This would be "Listen to What the Flower People Say", sequeing into "Big Bottom"....("Big Bottom drive me out of my mind...how can I leave that behind?"....) They did this same medley on VH-1 a couple weeks ago. Their drummer, BTW, who said he was their new drummer was Mick Fleetwood. If he played at the benefit, I'm sure you would have mentioned it. That's why I recommended "Out of Range"-- because its more folk sounding and not so abrasive. Dilate and Not a Pretty Girl are a bit hard... Most Joni fans might have an easier time appreciating her more early work. At least you gave it a try. :) eric - -----Original Message----- From: owner-joni@jmdl.com [mailto:owner-joni@jmdl.com]On Behalf Of catman Sent: Friday, August 11, 2000 9:03 PM To: Alison Einerson Cc: SCJoniGuy@aol.com; joni@smoe.org Subject: Re: NJC More Ani Alison Einerson wrote: > "not a pretty girl" is very good, I bought this album on a recommendation from the this list. I LOVE the NIght Ride home album..but Nothing Can Be Done is just not a favorite of mine..But, TO each his own.. I am so excited to hear that Bjork will be on this tribute album! I saw a special of her creating an album in Spain. She takes such pains with the way she wants her music to sound. I know she would take Joni's songs and give them the artistic interpretation they deserve. Any artist has to admire her individuality and her musicality. I am also excited about Janet Jackson being on this tribute album. I have always liked her. As was said, we already know what K.D. Lang sounds like. I am quite interested in hearing what each of the artists have to offer. I would also like to say welcome to the new JMDL members. We are truly like a family and if you love Joni, you will fit right in. Oh, Bob, I "LOVE" Santanna's "Corazon Esplinado"..Does this translate to splintered heart? Hello everyone, I am just curious about the meaning behind the song " the Boho Dance" I guess I am a bit naieve about the direction of the lyrics..eventhough i love to sing along to them.. i feel like i am blowing hot air ..without not knowing the meaning..behind the song.. In the album notes, Joni says that the song is a "Tom Wolfeism".. now i know that he wrote the Bonfire of the Vanities..and was a writer from the sixties on..but could anyone explain to me (the simple minded person).. how the meaning of the song ties in with Tom wolfe..and etc.. I would appreciate that very much..
