My problem with Tori is that while I'm certain she is easily one of the most talented musicians on the scene, I can't make out the words at all without a lyric sheet - -and I'm too lazy or old to sit there reading the lyrics the whole time. I really like "God", what a great song! "Witches burning gets a little toasty...." I enjoy reading the web page and checking my e-mail. There are interesting people and opinions as well as a wide degree of musical taste. I would like to hear from this eclectic group their opinion of Dave Matthews , either with band or acoustically with Tim Reynolds. I am a huge fan and would like to find out why he is not given the praise I think he deserves. If you don't like him please don't say it's because 90% of his fans are 16 year olds that have no idea what good music is. I wait to defend. Does anyone know why Joni chose How Do You Stop for TI? Does she know the writers? How did she find the song? Was it brought to her? As for the writers, who are they and what else have they done? Seems funny that with all these Joni freaks on the list that no one would know the answer to my question. I mean, here's an artist who so rarely uses other people's material on her albums, so it would seem that there should be good stories about why she chose to use other people's songs. I can't believe there is not someone on this list who has some idea of why she chose this song. Or that no one else who has thought about it. This album sees her take a completely different direction from 1998's 'Taming the Tiger'. Here she sings romantic cover songs like 'You're My Thrill' and 'I Wish I were in Love Again'. She was recently the subject of a TV special, where Elton John, Diana Krall, kd lang, Shawn Colvin, Wynonna Judd, Chaka Khan, Richard Thompson and Cassandra Wilson all performed in tribute to her. So perhaps some of her celebrity friends may take the stage with her tonight. May 12, 8pm, Greek Theatre, 2700 North Vermont Avenue (1 213 480 7575). and.... From TimeOut.Com New York Music: Rock Joni Mitchell No Woodstock veteran is more deserving of his or her torrents of accolades than Joni Mitchell. Always a restless innovator blasting elegantly away at the walls separating folk, pop and jazz, the Canadian chanteuse was so ahead of her time that a new generation is only just getting wise to her - witness the inspiration of Janet Jackson's 'Don't Know What You've Got Till It's Gone.' Mitchell's 23 albums mark a truly unique and original oeuvre that served to inspire generations of women in folk, jazz and everywhere in between. Through it all she has remained unassuming and unaffected, allowing the music to speak for itself.
