Actually, thinking back to the past 5 or so weddings I've been to, I wore jeans with a colored shirt and tie and a blazer to two of them, and this might sound like some kind of hillbilly trailer trash get up, but if you feel comfortable, I think you automatically just look better than if you were all gussied up and uncomfortable (sounds like some kind of Bridget Jones philosophy, doesn't it?). For my own wedding, I absolutely refused to wear a tux or some stupid monkey suit, and so I wore loose dress pants, a night LIGHT shirt, a tie (I gave in to this one during the 11th hour), and this funky black vest I found. Let me tell you, not to toot my own horn, but I think I looked pretty spiffy, largely because I was comfortable with what I was wearing. So, IMO, I don't think it matters one bit what k.d. or anyone else wears to a wedding or a tribute, or whatever. Of couse, I didn't see the show (sniff), but really, big hairy deal if she was in jeans... this is rock and roll peoples! I mean, you could make the same argument and say "why did Cyndi Lauper let herself get hit on her big ole head with a baseball bat before the tribute" (Sorry, Mimmy ole buddy). Evian, who wore an uncomfortable outfit today, and thus felt "off" all day. np: The Unforgettable Fire, which is my all-time, #1 favorite song ever frigging recorded ------------------------------ Date: Tue, 18 Apr 2000 02:58:43 -0400 From: dsk Subject: Tribute, some more Mark or Travis wrote: > What I want to know is when has anybody ever seen k d dressed up? Didn't she used to wear suits that looked like (or were) men's tuxedos? Such a black suit would have fit in perfectly with the look of this show. Guess she felt like being a rebel. I don't pay much attention to what people are wearing so I hadn't noticed it at the taping, but watching the show on TV I realized at some point that I was seeing an awful lot of black leather, like everyone was told to wear something black, and most of the performers did. I'm used to seeing that dark look in New York, but usually not on TV, and don't at all associate it with Joni. It seems so un-Californian. Once I'd noticed it, it seemed rather odd for a splashy celebration, but then, how cool, I thought. There's a definite "look" to this show. Again, such care was taken with this production. Plus against that somber background Joni in her silver-looking dress sparkled even more than she usually/always/naturally does. I am not aware that BSN has gone gold yet (500,000 copies), and in fact this week BSN slipped from 89 to 99 on Billboard's top 200 albums chart. That was before the tribute, but TNT is one cable channel amongst at least a hundred...whether the advertising budget has been paid back yet is questionable, too... I was in Tower (Sacramento) and they had this cool BSN display on the wall, it was 3 or 4 feet wide, looked like it was made of wood painted black, and three dimensional, with the cover painting on it of course. Has anyone else seen this? RR Kakki wrote: > > Penny reported: > > > Now Joni has the top FOUR spots on the "movers and shakers"....LOTC, Blue, > C&S and Hits.
