If you're going to meet Joni Mitchell in person, you have to take the rest of the class with you so they can all meet Joni Mitchell in person. (I may have paraphrased.) Regards, Harper Lou >> I FOR ONE AM SPEECHLESS!!!! I can't beleave I missed another Joni moment!!! Why I do not live out there by now is beyond me!!! I want to meet her too (Catgirl jumping up and down wildly!!) Kakki, I hope the Boxset had the artwork with it. That will mean that IF you got the artwork from Les then at one point I had my hads on it since I made them for him. Then that will mean that Joni will touch something that I previously touched. That is as close as I will get to her for now and will have to do (for now!) Also, I hope the limited edition of the Cd will make to this side of the country. That ear certainly did not. I bought three, repeat THREE Cd's just to find an ear to no avail...big boo hoo!!!! Fortunately I have some good friends here on this list! ;o) I am so green I look like a witch! I had hesitated because Kakki and Phyliss's reports were so good and thorough and I didn't have quite the visit with Joni that they did. >> THANK YOU LINDSAY, PHYLISS & KAKKI for such beautiful posts!!! The ongoing reports of fans meeting their SHERO is SO heartening. I'm still awed contemplating Joni's gracious meetings with Wally Breeze.... Lindsay continues: << The paintings in person were so ... luminous is the only word I can think of. My favorite was the snow landscape (I just checked TTT's booklet, but it's not in there -- I must have seen it on PWWAM) was just exquisite. The light and the velvety/sparkly surface of the snow on the road was just perfect. >> Omygod, you're right Lindsay! I just checked the TTT booklet & the snowy landscape is indeed not there. But I know I've seen it reproduced somewhere - perhaps Wally's site. Wherever, it is definitely a *luminous* work I would LOVE to see hanging over my fireplace. It's so great that she enjoyed it so much. Marian, Michael and Jerry - are you still going to be reproducing copies of it? I would say the work has definitely increased in value and demand since the first edition ;-) Just please don't charge us those exorbitant prices that they gouge us for with the STARART books! ;-D" Kakki- I have been talking with Freda about the cookbook and she says that it would be a pretty hefty undertaking and could also be quite expensive to print, depending on how we do it. She has been incredibly busy and I have not been bugging her about it until tonight. She is going to go to a book store tomorrow and get a couple of sample formats for ideas/budget. And we will go from there. She was showing me the book she designed for the NFL Superbowl Committee presentation (that the Superdome commissioned her to do) that won the Superbowl XXXVI to be held in New Orleans Superdome in 2002. It is a super nice production, but boy was it pricey. She is going to come up with a proposal to present to Marian and see how wild and crazy this project will get. She will give us some more info by next week. My family always went to Episcopalian or Catholic Church services and so I was always enjoyed singing those trad, songs in church as well as at home around the fire with the fam. I am really fond of Jon Anderson's Christmas Album "Three Ships". I particularly like; Three Ships, O Holy Night, Save All Your Love, and Easier Said Than Done. Whilst I still believe Jon may have obtained some of the brown acid at Woodstock, I do so love his voice and music. Happy Christmas to all and to all a good night, Michael P.S. River is another one that is undeniably one of my faves. ------------------------------ Date: Fri, 3 Dec 1999 23:14:05 -0800 From: "Kakki" Subject: Re: More Joni report Dear Anne, Terry, Catgirl and any others who are upset about Joni hearing the box set, It was my understanding that all the musicians' contributions had been cleared and approved for general release. I also understood that the box set was going to eventually be offered on the web site. Had I known that any of you would feel uncomfortable with this, I would not have done it. I apologize for the misunderstanding - feel free to beat me up! ;-) But I don't think you all should feel so self-conscious about it. It's not about giving Joni some slick, professional product - it's about our hearts and spirits and love for her and her inspiration to all of us. It's also a tangible example of how she has brought people together from all over the world. I am absolutely sure she would see nothing but beauty in any "imperfection" and it would touch her all the more. It also occurred to me how so many of us have several tapes of her that she probably never meant for public distribution, either! But we never sit back and critique those performances and pick them apart. We love her in any moment. Catgirl wrote: > THAT has me freaked out. While I'm so glad that we at least have the list to share our Joni experiences with each other, I *do* feel the limitations of our physical distances from each other. I know that when Joni happenings occurs in another part of the planet, I gladly settle for living vicariously, at least, but in an ideal world I guess we would all be living on Planet Siquomb! > Kakki, I hope the Boxset had the artwork with it. I ordered the DE-LUXE edition from Les (full artwork with Quad CD jewel box) and gave her my coveted copy. (But Les, please, I need a replacement - I miss it already! ;-) The only thing that bothers me is I think I dog-eared it a bit and it probably had some small stains on it already when she got it ;-D > Also, I hope the limited edition of the Cd will make to this side of the > country. That ear certainly did not. I bought three, repeat THREE Cd's just > to find an ear to no avail...big boo hoo!!!! I never, ever saw or heard of that special "ear" edition here in L.A. and believe me I would have grabbed it up in a minute if it was available. I think there were only 10,000 copies of that special TI edition available (and I bet at least 5,000 went to people in the biz!), but Robbie gave me great hope when he said *this* special edition would be "in all the record stores." I will scope out what is available in L.A., and if anyone here has difficulty finding it, I will do all I can to help get them a copy of it.
