Now that I am done with the CD TREE I want to find some listers who have 2 vcrs. Some could be both HI FI!! ( which is awesome!!) and then others can be regular. I have two hi fi's and would like to keep the tape in hifi format. The listers who do not have there TV hooked up to there sterio really won't need hi fi. So...if there is anyone out there that has two hifi or two regular vcr's and would like to help out with the BBC video tree please email me privately. I have discovered that the tape I got (from Bob Muller) is taped at the slower speed which means that in order to keep the quality up to par I am going to have the tapes made at the fastest speed and then only fit 2 hours on the tape not 6. This means that all of the BBC from 69 will be on it and maybe most of 74. So...anyway....contact me! This show is AMAZING!!! Last night we saw Joan Baez with Babatunde Olatunji (wonderful!), upcoming in December is Greg Brown, Chris Smither (remember him from Tape Tree #3 - was in the radio station studio with Joni - WMMR?) and Judy Collins performing with the Sacramento Gay Men's Chorus. I've always loved the 3 Js - Judy, Joan & Joni - let's hope next year brings a Joni tour to support the new album! I love Loreena McKennitt. I just got "Live in Paris and Toronto" and I think this music is wonderful. This a very cool recording as well and sounds so amazing for a live record of acoustic music. I have a very dear friend, Beth Patterson, here in New Orleans who plays Irish music and is truly brilliant. She has a new record out called Hybrid Vigor and I recommend it to all who like Irish music especially in lots of different time signatures. I often go to hear her play at an Irish Pub in the quarter. I am sure some of you will get to meet her at JoniTribute2000, as she will be joining me playing bouzouki on my set. AND OH BY THE WAY- We are now signing up artists to play for the JMDL celebration Sunday May 28. If you have not signed up, PLEASE don't be bashful. If you have not signed up on our list ( joni2000@jmdl.com) please do so by sending an email with the word subscribe in the subject. This way you can be a part of the planning of this wonderful event. into another week closer we geaux, Michael NP-Dante's Prayer-Loreena McKennitt ------------------------------ Date: Mon, 22 Nov 1999 00:25:01 +0000 From: Alan Larson Subject: timeless classics (tom rush at mccabe's) Thanks for such a beautiful rendition of the Rush performance, kakki. mccabe's is such a great venue. I wish I had been there if only for Child's Song and Urge for Going, two of my all time faves. i actually had a dream about a t shirt design for urge, with geese flying overhead and a pond and a tree, and the saying "they get the urge for going, and you have to let them go." To hear what a special bond he has with child's song was fascinating, esp funny intro. i've been performing that song for 20 years and it still makes me cry sometimes. I've only been performing Urge for a few weeks, thanks to Sue's tabs it is now in my repertoire and songbook. but i look forward to many years performing it. In my mind it is a timeless classic as well. I caught Sting on SNL the other night. Not much of what he does anymore seems to compare with Englishman in New York and Fragile and Sister Moon, in my humble opinion. but he does seem to enjoy what he does very much. thanks again kakki alan in ames, iowa ------------------------------ End of JMDL Digest V4 #526 ************************** The Song and Album Voting Booths are open!
