I use D'addario phospher bronze light guage on my acoustic, which are about £8 now. What about in the US? Can any of the many muso listers help me?" Martin- You can get those strings for between $3.50 to $5.00 average either mail order or from most discount music stores. There are many places to Do over charge for them though. Hey Kakki- Rocky must have spiked the punch bowl over there as planned. Far out! It's about them tight ass glam folk let their collect back bone slip. I recall a gig there (at the Hollywood HOB) when I was on tour with the Funky Meters (the most terrifying funk band in the universe) and Zachary Richard; the hollywood set just stood around and looked cool and mostly looked around to see who was looking round to see who was lookin...(ad (sic) nauseum lol.) The brothers definitely can make things happen when they want to. I am sooo happy that the mojo worked and I heard from Darice and Julius this week who also had the right stuff for Neville/Feat shows in the great NW. I guess this means we have to have some kinda of duel Dulson. How about a mud wrestling match? mens synchronized swimming contest? My CURRENT top five faves are: Dave Matthews Yes Sarah MacLachlan Michael Franks Joan Armatrading (back in there again) I guess I should share the BIG news with you guys that happened to me today. I have been asked to be Tour Manager for Michael Franks for one day next week to cover for his managers who are out on the remainder of the Lilith Fair tour. It is a HUGE honor for me as I have loved his music (and performed it as well) for many years. If things go right it could lead to some more touring with him and other artists when I have open slots. Also the TransPerformance Telecaster arrived on my door step today. It is incredible. I have got it ready for tomorrow for a marathon learning session so I can program everybodys favorite tunings in there for Joni Fest. What an incredible day? I am so grateful for my abundant blessings of which the JMDL is in my top five always. Peace Michael NP-Mr. Smooth-Michael Franks ------------------------------ Date: Sat, 21 Aug 1999 00:58:31 -0500 From: Michael Paz Subject: Dave Matthews Band (NJC) Jerry listened to: "Love of My Life - Carlos Santana w The Dave Matthews Band" Jerry- I love this record. Kevin gave me a sampler that came into Tower before it was released and I was floored. I just got the full album a few weeks ago and I am crazy about it. For the first time I think Dave sounds like Sting, which I have heard people say for years, but disagreed with. Speaking of Sting he is doing a tour this fall and stopping here in NO at the Saenger (which is a beautiful 2800 seat place). I am SO there! Anyways I love all of Daves records, but my suggestion is to start with Crash. It is a great album and not quite as dark as Before These Crowded Streets (which is my current fave by DMB) There is a very cool site for live Dave mp3's and recordings of him with Tim Reynolds (a guitarist friend of his that he tours with pretty often as a duo) I would be happy to get you the web address for downloading. I heard a very funny quote about Dave. He was asked in a current interview what he thought was the big appeal about his songs. His reply, "Because they are all about fucking and drinking". I had the chance to work with him on an MTV special shot in New Orleans a few years ago just after Crash came out and he was a really super guy. The whole band was incredible and so talented. The boy does like to party too. Enjoy! Michael ------------------------------ End of JMDL Digest V4 #360 ************************** The Song and Album Voting Booths are open!
