And it isn't because of tax differences-it is because British people just put up with being treated like mugs. The latest contribution to the genre is : Eugene Ruffolo - A Fool For Every Season ( C.R.S. ) Eugene Ruffolo is a singer, songwriter, guitarist. When not delighting audiences with his compelling and personal music, Eugen makes his home New York City's Greenwich Village. His debut CD is entitled "A Fool For Every Season" and was produced by John Leventhal, Ben Wisch and Ruffolo himself. Guest appearances include a duet with Marc Cohn and contributions from Jonatha Brooke and Livingston Taylor. The musicians on the disc are all well-known session players like Jeff Pevar ( once again! ), Shawn Pelton, Steuart Smith, Duke Levine, Zev Katz, Clifford Carter and others. One spin and you'll quickly understand why Ruffolo has been asked to lend his unique vocal talents to projects by artists as diverse as Livingston Taylor, David Wilcox, Spyro Gyra and Artie Traum, just to name a few. As the producers of Ontario's acclaimed Summerfolk Festival say, "it's only a matter of time before the rest of the world knows about Eugene Ruffolo - he's doing all the right things!". For copies of this WONDERFUL disc, please contact : Eugene Ruffolo 92 Horatio St, #3G New York NY 10014 - 1588 U.S.A. or email : Ruffolino@aol.com or check the website at : http://www.songs.com/ruffolo Check it out - You'll love it! You can have hundreds of different guitars in one. Welcome back! Some of you listers have written positive reviews of Beth Orton's latest album - you were all very right about this record; it truly is amazing! To all the London based JMDL'ers on this list: if you hear of any concert dates for Beth in London (and I expect there to be some very soon), PLEASE let me know, will you? I will then fly in for the day to come see her her gig. Any other concert dates (i.e. in the U.S.) are more than welcome too - thanx in advance :-) Robbert (from Holland) ------------------------------ Date: Sun, 21 Mar 1999 14:34:12 -0600 From: "Happy The Man" Subject: NJC-Jonatha Brooke at the Roxy on April I am getting tickets to the Jonatha Brooke concert on April 29th at the Roxy for the 7:30 showing. If someone is interested in maybe putting together a meet and greet I would love to take advantage of this west coast swing. I'm new to the list, and I was just wondering if any of you are familiar with the new "Stormy Weather" CD being distributed by AT&T... I just got my hands on one yesterday. It's a compilation of standards recorded live at the Wiltern Theater here in LA last year. I remember reading about the event (It was a benefit concert for the Walden Woods Project), but I had no idea it was being recorded for distribution! It features one song apiece from Paula Cole, Shawn Covin, Bjork, Sheryl Crow, Stevie Nicks, Gwen Stefani, Trisha Yearwood, Sandra Bernhard, Natalie Cole, and, of course, the incomparable Joni on the title track. Maybe this has been discussed before, I don't know... But if you haven't heard it yet, I'd try to get my hands on this one. Joni, Shawn, Paula, Sheryl, and Sandra are particularly excellent. God bless... I just got a copy of Stormy Weather from a friend who had an extra to give away. I don't think I would have even known about the recording had it not been for the JMDL, so yes, it has been discussed here.
