Good show! Merci beaucoup, sir. I am forwarding this to the home planet for sure. The moniker was originally Tim Duncan's when we were friends at IU in 1970. I like it because of the Carlos Castaneda / Don Juan 'warrior' of Yaqui Indian ways, and for the frustrated poet I find in myself now and again. I want to see a tulip FARM! It's more of a jaunt from Evansville but you can also come to the Skagit River valley here in Washington state, not too far north of Seattle. It's just about the right time of year to see multi-colored fields of tulips and golden fields of daffodils. On clear days you might even have the Cascade mountains as a backdrop. Nearby is Deception Pass, a narrow section of Puget Sound that passes between dramatically sheer rock cliffs. You can stand on the bridge that spans the pass and look down at churning blue green water, flowing between rock walls that are capped with evergreen foliage. Plenty of photo ops. And you know there may be (a lot) more here in God's country. When I first joined this great list, well over a year ago, I mentioned in my newbie post that I used to play guitar "way back when," in coffeehouses, bars, etc., but that it had been sitting in my closet for 20 years. I was told clearly and immediately by this "demure" list that it was a "crime" punishable by the JMDL police to keep a Martin guitar locked up in a closet for 20 years! Not wanting to be apprehended by the authorities, I dutifully took the guitar out, and dusted her off. I later posted that a while after that, I began to play guitar in the band that I am a singer in, because we lost our guitar player. To make a long story a bit shorter, I have a new edition to my family! Two days ago, I bought a wonderful 12 string guitar, since I had been playing so much, and enjoying it so much. I wanted a fuller sound to some of the pieces we play in the band, and took the plunge. I used it in our gig last night, and even though my fingers are killing me today, I am one very happy buckaroo!!!! So, thanks, everyone!!!!!!!! On the question of royalties payable to the writers (and publishers, by t= he way) when you play live: public establishments where music is supplied= through either recordings, radio or TV sets or live performers are requ= ired by law to buy a yearly license from ASCAP, BMI, & SESAC (in North Am= erica) which entitles them to make this music available to the public on = their premises. The license fees become part of the total income of the l= icensing organizations and the net after expenses is distributed to the p= ublisher and writer members. So, in addition to the recordings you helped= to sell, your live performances DID result in money going to JM and her = publisher (in most cases, her own companies, I think) so long as the joi= nts where you played had fulfilled their obligation to take the annual li= censes.
