I didn't mean to say that your taste was bad either just because you don't care for Bjork. It didn't bother me that you were saying those things about her voice, and that's fine if you don't like her. But if you're going to be dishing out the negative comments, you can at least expect SOMEONE who may be a fan to come back with some positive ones about the artist. By the same token, I'm sure if there were a Backstreet Boys fan (and there may be) on the list, I wouldn't be surprised if he/she made some comments about my sarcastic post earlier. Bjork is one of the few artists I consider to be right up there (though not as high as Joni) and that was why I wanted to point out some of the positives of her music. I didn't say "You're such a jerk. Are you deaf? Bjork is great, man. Maybe you should sell something and buy some taste!" or anything like that. I wasn't even thinking it. I didn't say anything negative about you, but only commented on Bjork's art... so why are you mocking me because I came to her defense? Bob M. in SC Hi Bob. I don't have TV reception, never saw that interview...nor did anyone ever tell me about it, as few people i know are into Joni to the extent I am...so...i guess my linking Elvis with SOSQ stems only from the fact that I am a huge fan of both artists. Nothing subliminal, simply insight! I am in complete agreement with you when you say that Elvis is second only to Joni as a lyricist. I'm not too keen on Painted From Memory, though I respect him tremendously for the endeavor. Previous to PFM, I could not have named a Burt Bachrach (sp?) song. His music never entered my life. Perhaps it's my age. I have only a very minor appreciation for the songs on PFM. I just got a new live cd of Natalie Merchant's and during the performance she talks about her participation on an album called "Tears of Stone" that will be coming out in February. (This concert was recorded December 7, 1998.) "Tears of Stone" will be a compilation of women-singers covering traditional songs. It has been known for a couple of months that Natalie would be on the album, but what I didn't know was something Natalie mentioned during the performance. She said that Joni Mitchell would perform a song for the album as well. I haven't read this anywhere else, but that's what Natalie said. This may be (well, probably is) old news to most of you on the list. Does anyone know what song Joni will be singing? Is there a story behind this?
