I think that's the problem...We've gone slack...Maybe Santa Baby will
get us up with some handsfree headsets ;~D I can't speak for anyone else
but I'm waaaaaaaaay out here: I've been busy boiling lead in preparation
for the second-coming-relative-invasion };~D

I couldn't get anyone to record the programe on UK Arena (boo hoo); however,
Rob eased my woe somewhat by saying that it was almost certainly an old
programme, and not the recent PPV (hooray).
Anyway, does anyone have any idea if the PPV is ever going to be shown in the
UK?? Some of us are getting desparate! It's bad enough that we don't get to
see Joni perform.

Looks like Rob & I were the only two to make it to the Lucinda Williams show.
Shame really, as she was on top form and great voice. Only thing was the band
was too big - apart from her own guitar, there were 3 other guitarists, which
wasn't really necessary. Come back Gurf Morlix, all is forgiven!
A word too about young Jamie Jake - I went to see him in the play he was
doing, "The Immigrant Song", and he was truly excellent. The man has a great
sense of comic timing, and does a spot-on Pakistani accent! One of my pipe
dreams is to adapt "sex lies & videotape" for the stage, and I've got Jamie
pencilled in for the Peter Gallagher part. Rob went too, and was similarly
enthused. So, look out for Jamie in the forthcoming "Star Wars" film - blink
and you'll miss him!
My next posting will have some Joni content, I think - it's been a while since
I included anything about the one this is all supposed to be about :-)

Hey Susan! How about we all get video hook-ups from Santa?! I know that
Marsha and I joked about this. Then when someone gets in the mood to flame
they can just visually moon 'em. (just joking around ;-)
Boiling lead!!?? Do you have your caldron out?
Heather
PS - Mark - I was wondering the same thing.

This review by Nicholas Jennings appeared in the Nov. 2
issue of Macleans. I don't think anyone posted it; forgive me if
it's a repeat. (Note: it's pretty lame. Just my opinion)..
A return to her jazzier side, TTT finds JM, now 54, happy but hardly
complacent. Featuring saxophonist Wayne Shorter (Weather Report) and
drummer Brian Blade (Joshua Redman), the album includes sensuous,
romantic numbers like Love Puts on a New Face, with its swirling
keyboards and Mitchell's pastel-shaded chords, and The Crazy Cries of
Love, about a late-night tryst on a train bridge that she wrote with her
boyfriend, Saskatoon songwriter Don Freed. But other songs, such as
Lead Balloon and No Apologies, attack some of Mitchell's favorite
targets: corrupt lawyers and two-faced record executives. On the
acerbic title track, she sings, "I'm a runaway from the record biz /
from the hoods in the 'hood / and the whiny white kids / Boring!" For
the most part, however, the album is a celebration of Mitchell's
newfound love. On Face Lift, she gently rebukes her mother for
disapproving of her unmarried relationship with Freed. "Why is this joy
not allowed?" she asks. On Stay in Touch, she sings the simple title
phrase over and over, illuminating the words until they glow with new
meaning. Like the landscape and portrait paintings by the singer that
illustrate the CD booklet, Mitchell's best songs cast sometimes uncommon
subjects in an uncommonly bright light.

Hey Heather!
The lead pouring went beautifully...My cauldron is now washed, rinsed,
dried and back in it's cupboard. I have graduated to bomb assembly: By
my calculations I should be ready just in time for Christmas };~D
I love your and Marsha's video hook-up "moon'em" idea! Perhaps it's time
we all wrote Santa?
Here's mine:
"...Santa Baby, forgot to mention one little rasher,
a smasher...
So hurry down the chimney tonight..."-??? slightly altered ;~)
