Hay! I know I've been gone since.... September? Oh god, that's long. I've had some mail problems, and schedule problems, and I hope I can be a regular contributor again! Out of curiosity, have I missed anything major? A brief recap of events would be very much appreciated. I've bought a few more Joni CD's- TTT, of course. On the whole, I like it, but barely. Harlem in Havana, No Apologies, and Man From Mars are fantastic, but some of the later tracks get really dull. I think the songs are good, but the VG8 makes everything sound so samey... I really miss the menace of the low notes on TI.... I also picked up For The Roses and Song To A Seagull, which are both spectacular! STAS, especially Cactus Tree, The Dawntreader, and Nathan La Franeer, is one of my new faves. I've also found a variety of other artists that I find quite brilliant-- Lisa Germano, Beth Orton, Mono, Latin Playboys, American Music Club, and Mark Eitzel. Does anyone here share my affinities???? - -Derrick NP: Mark Eitzel, "Caught In A Trap..." Has anyone heard of him? I was born in 1960, so growing up during that era, I often heard Joni being played by my brothers on the turn table. Skating to BIG YELLOW TAXI was a rush for me! :-) I was also curious as to SIQUOMB's meaning, Mark. I happened upon the definition as I was looking at the Joni t-shirts. It stands for "She is queen undisputedly of mind beauty". Check out the merchandise page for the whole story. I am glad you asked the question! I am here to learn more about Joni and I am sure there are seasoned fans who will help us grow in knowledge! I have had DOG EAT DOG in the tape player of my vehicle, interchanging it with a wonderful tape that Jason sent to me. LUCKY GIRL is a whimsical song. I feel free and lighthearted when I hear it! Hampton, who was plagued by ill-health since contracting polio as a teen-ager, died on Sunday after a long battle with lung cancer, hospital spokeswoman Suzanne O'Brien said. Hampton opened a film production company, Blackside Inc. in Boston's South End neighborhood and managed after years of struggling to land the six-hour $3 million documentary on PBS in 1987. Hampton continued making films while undergoing chemotherapy treatments after a 1990 diagnosis of lung cancer. It's as if after all these mysterious ruminations about Amelia Earhart, we are given a reason for them: "this is how I hide the hurt."
