Can someone more knowledgeable than I help me with a question regarding these horrible websites .... If one goes to those kind of ugly websites doesn't the website register "hits" accounting for how many visits are made to that particular website? And can that website pick up your e-mail address in any way? I don't go to those kinds of websites for fear of that and I don't want to be associated with that kind of crap. A website proclaiming their views, no matter how inflammatory, misguided, immoral, whatever, is perfectly legal and *should* be perfectly legal. It's a far cry from denying someone a job or housing or safety because of their sexual orientation. It's not discriminatory, just hateful. Even if it were discriminatory, DISCRIMINATION BASED ON SEXUAL ORIENTATION IS **LEGAL**!!! In almost the entire United States! These people are well within their rights. The best antidote to bad speech is more speech. After all, there are plenty of people who would like to ban pro-gay websites, too. - --Michael ------------------------------ Date: Thu, 15 Oct 1998 23:22:18 -0700 From: Anne Madden Subject: Producer for Joni James wrote - "I don't understand how someone (he means ME) can be a "huge" Joni fan and critize her production, lyrics and paintings". You are being too sensitive James. Just because I offered a suggestion as to Joni having someone else produce her next album doesn't mean I will stop being a Joni fan. I have every one of her CD's and if she comes out with any more whether or not she is the producer I will still buy them. I have tickets to see her and Bob October 29th in Toronto. As fans who buy her records we are all entitled to our opinions! I have been a stauch supporter and defender of Joni's for years and this won't change. There is nothing wrong with some members saying while TTT is good, perhaps it is not as good as some of her other albums. I am not a master of music by any means but I find some of the tracks kind of sound the same. If you put your finger on each track and play the first few bars you'll see what I mean. ------------------------------ Date: Thu, 15 Oct 1998 23:29:36 -0700 From: Anne Madden Subject: Album - Crown of Jewels There is a new Randy Scruggs CD called Crown of Jewels. One of the tracks on it is an instrumental (acoustic guitar) of "Both Sides Now". In the liner notes, Scruggs says - "...written by Joni Mitchell and has one of the prettiest melodies I've ever heard." For the guitarists among you he says - "I perform it with a special tuning whereas the low "E" note of the guitar is tuned to "D" and the low "A" string is tuned to "G". The high melody of the song works its way in and around the lower bass lines and somehow I feel as though it's an orchestral peformance when I play it. It provokes my mind into hearing subtle string arrangements and enhancements that may not be physically on the stage or in the studio, yet present themselves at a time and place whereas you can close your eyes and simply "listen to the music". ------------------------------ Date: Thu, 15 Oct 1998 23:35:02 EDT From: Marilune@aol.com Subject: Re: Re: NJC:Manson In a message dated 10/15/98 6:33:52 PM, catman@ethericcats.demon.co.uk wrote: >Marilyn it must have been-no where near as whacko as Charles who i gather > >would look very old now! > > > >Mark Domyancich wrote: > > > >> Charles Manson or Marilyn Manson? ;-) as a non-goth who listens to KROQ and like hard rawkin' music....i like marilyn manson's new song "the dope show" (we're all stars now). his album sounds cool. I was horrified to hear little Paul Pfeiffer from the Wonder Years was a band member of the Manson gang.
