(long) Hi Joniphiles - I have a number of things to bore you with tonight... The JMDL website has a new search engine that is much more powerful than the previous one. You can do quite structured searches through the entire site - articles, reviews, guitar files, the Gallery, and Joni's lyrics. Check it out at: http://www.jmdl.com/search.htm Also, while testing the new toy out I realized that there are now over 300 articles on the website - 95% of which have been contributed by you members out there. I just want to say thanks to all those who have helped me build the "library" so quickly. Next - there are a number of Joni "projects" currently in progress: 1) The birthday card project. The list has seen much debate on this topic and it's time to get started with the actual organization. Ken Slarty - last year's card "boss" and idea originator - and I have decided to form a committee to get the job done. If you want to be considered as a member of the planning committee and/or you have further card ideas - send them to . All the details on how to participate in the final product will be posted to the list when known. 2) The trivia project. Katie Barnicle has spearheaded the project from the get-go and is still on the case. If you know of any good Joni trivia or want to know the answer to a trivia question - send a message to and we'll add it to the list. Eventually, the trivia questions will be archived at jonimitchell.com. 3) The "Today in Joni History" project. This is a regular feature of the JMDL and continues to grow all the time. You can help! If you know a date or month specific Joni factoid, send it off to and we'll add it to the list. This project will eventually be archived on the JMDL website. 4) JoniFest 1999. This will be held in Colorado USA in August of 1999. You can get instant information on it by sending a blank message to . Also, we will be forming a planning committee soon to deal with the organization. Continue to express your ideas to the list or to the existing initial committee by sending a message to . JoniFest 1999 is the brainchild of that happy guy Craig Jenkins. 5) The FAQ project. The JMDL is sorely in need of a good FAQ (frequently asked questions) document to issue to new subscribers. When you first joined the list, what confused you? What questions did you have? In what way did you feel in the dark? What are you still confused about? Send these questions and suggestions to and I will begin compiling the list. Finally, jonimitchell.com and the JMDL have become important clearinghouses for "all things Joni". In a very real sense, we are all part of the Joni Mitchell Internet Community that is helping to archive and preserve the greatness of our lady of duality. Things that you members contribute - audio, video, articles, information, etc - eventually make it back out through the websites for all the world's Joni fans to enjoy. Your support is very much appreciated. Contact Wally or I if you ever run across anything you want to contribute to the Joni cause. Myrtle would be proud. Thanks for listening. Meeting adjourned. ;-) Les np: Bela Fleck - "Left of Cool" ------------------------------ Date: Sun, 13 Sep 1998 00:17:07 -0500 From: Michael Paz Subject: Kids at Joni Fest 99 Hi Wally- I have been following this short thread on kids at 99 fest. I have to say that I would love the chance for Mikey and Julian to be able to meet the man that brought me to this wonderful place. I can appreciate the group wanting as little "other" distractions as possible, having been at Ashara's, I wanted to spend as much time with everyone as I could. I am open to persuasion though. They could always wait for you to come to New Orleans to visit.
