All I know of Mary is that she's a good friend of Shawn Colvin(who rocks
too, BTW). All I've heard is 'Come On Come On' on the Columbia Records
Radio Hour compilation album, but it's pretty good. Roseanne Cash is on
there too, doing that song w/ John Leventhal, whom I also like from his
work with Shawn Colvin(what a small world...). Sorry, I don't know if
Interiors is avaliable. Out of curiosity, where in Canada are you? I'm
in Surrey, just outside of Vancouver, BC.

I think it's the whole music industry, as opposed to record stores. The
record companies need to give music a label so they can market it toward
a specific audience, so the record stores need to do the same thing. it
prolly goes for radio too. The different stations want to know what
category the music falls under so they can work it into their
demographic stuff. eg: play bubblegum when the audience is a majority of
9-11 girls. Does that make any sense? This might be why Joni was so sick
of the music buisness - the way it categorizes everything.
but maybe it's time for a new category: Crossover, or
>something to that effect.
Wasn't that the concept for 'Alternative', before it became a label for
thrash guitar?

Hi y'all,
I know I posted this a while ago, but I don't believe I got an
answer (either that, or it was one of those weeks and my digests were
inadvertently 'skimmed' -- my own fault!). Is the Dan Hartman who wrote
"How Do You Stop?" the same Dan Hartman who sang "Instant Reply", "I Can
Dream About You," "Second Nature", "We are the Young," etc. in the early
'80's? I had a cassette of his album with the latter songs it when I
was in Grade nine, and so I am curious to know if this is the same guy.
Also, is it true that he passed away (if this is the same Dan Hartman)?
Thanks,
Evian

Subject: A Most Excellent Adventure
What a wonderful weekend!! Ashara has to have just the most divinely designed
house for a JMDL party and musicfest! As so many have already recounted,
Ashara, Chuck, Maggie, Katie, Heather and Ric did a fantastic, purrfect job
with everything. Stupendous food, decorations, gifts and games - all prepared
with heartfelt love. THANK you!
Hooray to hear the music tape came out well! There were so many musical
moments of pure magic that must be shared. Listening to our newest star Claud
Sans Soucie interpret Joni so beautifully along with the lucky, lucky break of
hearing Bryan Thomas. Add to that the presence of our musical heavyweights,
Marian, Michael Paz, David, Chuck and John, everyone else's enthusiasm and
Ashara's collection of a zillion types of percussional items and you have quite
a production.
It was great to visit with everyone and to talk with call-ins Roberto and
Marcel. (Sorry to miss speaking to Wally - we were in the middle of charging a
car battery when you called!) As usual, I'm feeling like these gatherings just
don't ever last long enough! Arrrr, why can't we all live down the street from
each other??
I'm still on a high and even happily scratching the mosquito and sand flea
bites covering me from head to toe.
Love,

Subject: More Excellent Adventure
After leaving Ashara's yesterday, Michael Paz, Jim Lamadoo and I did our best
tourist act bopping round downtown until we had to leave Jim for the refuge of
the roads. Michael and I became quite adept at learning to drive like Bostoners
(as Ashara warned us - "foot on the gas pedal, eyes closed") as we headed up
the incredibly scenic coastline. Michael had heard that Plum Island was a
recommended destination so we meandered along, occasionally careening off the
side of the road to take picture postcards as we listened several times to
Claud San Soucie's incredible tape of original music. Bought Witches-shit in
Salem and got a bit lost traveling the same roads multiple times, (no, we
weren't drinking - we were just lost in the scenery!)
We finally arrived on the island at around 9 p.m. There was one quaint
restaurant on the beach named Atty May's, but they didn't have martinis, so we
headed back to a little roadside tavern a few blocks away. We thought it would
be just a dive bar but inside was like an apparition with ambiance you could
cut with a knife. Old beach-house antique furniture with an overriding New
Orleans - Mardi Gras flavor and several intricately decorated antique
lampshades (heh-heh). The bar was an old dorry boat and they had darling
one-of-a-kind martini glasses! As it turned out, Atty May, an escapee from
lawyering, now living her dream, also owned the little tavern. As Ashara
reported, Michael brought in the TTT CD and asked to play it. I saw a few
couples dancing to several of the TTT songs. May was thrilled - she's a big
Joni fan!! She and some friends ended up joining our table and treated us like
long lost family. She encouraged us to dismantle her lamps and we all took
several photos with the lampshades on our heads. She wouldn't let us leave and
we partied till long past closing until the Policia arrived. No problem - we
had the magic dust and Ashara's angels looking out for us. We all headed down
to the beach and sat telling stories under the full moon till way late/early.
Finally had to leave to get Michael back to Boston for his rapidly-approaching
early morning flight so May gave us a warm goodbye and promised to get on the
JMDL list!
Heading down the highway, the radio was playing non-interrupted classic Jethro
Tull and we got this wild idea of calling the station and requesting some cuts
off TTT and, if necessary, bringing the CD into the station if they didn't have
it yet. The station, however, was located up in New Hampshire and they said
they were a 60's-70s music-only format and had to play what they were told to
play. Michael argued that Joni fit in there, too, but they were too scared of
going outside their approved-format. Oh well we gave it the old college try and
at least made a few converts on the island!

The vaults at the BBC are rich in Joni Mitchell material.
I recall the following, and you know there may be more :
Radio One - Festival Hall concert in 1969. Four tracks
were played on a John Peel live session.
Radio One In Concert broadcast from Christmas 1970
with James Taylor. Much bootlegged. From the Saville
Theater, but I'd need to check my reel to reel to be sure.
Televised concert in July 1972 from The Shepherd's Bush Theater.
Televised concert with LA Express from Victoria Theater in
April 1975.
Television and radio simulcast from Wembly Arena concert in
April 1983. The Refuge tour.
I wonder will this stuff ever see the light of day again.

Subject: Court and Spark HDCD
I recently saw the C&S HDCD appear in some UK shops so, of course, I
snapped one up! The original (non-HDCD) disc of C&S that I have is very
rough sounding in places, so I was really looking forward to a crisp copy
of this classic.
So - I was disappointed to find that the HDCD version sounded just the
same - all the same distortions on the vocal, same glitch in "Free Man In
Paris".
Anyway, a question:
Are the CD numbers on the HDCD releases supposed to be different than for
the original CD releases? I compared my two CDs, and they have exactly the
same number:
7559 60593 2
Does this mean my record shop was ripping me off by placing HDCD stickers
on the original CD?
Any info on this would be really useful. I've already heard that the HDCDs
don't actually have a mark on the CD itself to identify them - but can
anyone give me some info on the CD numbers. Surely they are not the same
as the initial CD release?

Well, I arrived safely back in Austria with no snags. I had a great
time, but I really missed Terry M., wish I had played my guitar more,
and today I am sharing the opinions of others who were thinking I was
crazy to travel so far - I feel tired, depressed, and jet lagged.
Ashara was a very gracious and generous hostess and we were blessed with
beautiful weather. The best moments of the weekend for me were:
* Listening to TTT with Maggie at the airport while waiting for Michael
Paz to arrive
* Sharing guitar stuff with John Lasatar
* Getting a beautiful name tag from Heather!
* David's piano playing!
* Talking with Ashara about her work with dolphins
* Katie's trivia quiz
* Julie's Dollyshit raffle
* getting a JMDL amulet from Ric (what a looker!)
* Maggie's taboulleh salad and Michael Paz's grilled shrimp
* Playing Michael Paz's VG-8 (gotta get me one of those!)
* Chuck E's dulcimer playing
* Bryan singing "Daughter"
* Claud's singing - she's got a voice like silver and plays a mean
guitar!
* Chilihead's shortbread!
* Listening to Laura Lieberman with Pearl
* Getting to know Marsha and Julie better
* Listening to Michael P., Jim, Kakki, Patrick and Michael Y. share
their opinions of various artists
So thank you, Ashara, for opening up your beautiful home to all of us
and, with the help of Katie, Maggie, Heather and Chuck, making the New
England Jonifest happen.

Subject: Re: bringing back the madness
Dear Tiajjm,
I've been thinking about your madness for a few days and since you revisited
the subject, I have an opportunity to respond.
One, perhaps, your madness is not really madness. Perhaps when you get into a
mood where nothing is appealing but Joni, you should go with that mood. You
know, did deeper. Stay with the Joni music for as long as takes. What's the
worse that can happen? You might discover some things that are truely
wonderful and far beyond your imagination.
Two, I'm not sure I would call such a mood a dry spell. It's very human to
think that there is something wrong in not wanting to hear some other music.
Maybe there is a very good reason for that. One that leads to a well of
release, rather than a spell of dryness. Don't let human standards get in your
way.
Three, you also cited your stage as a barren state. If my one and two are on
track, than this three leads to a fertile place, not a barren state.
I say go with the music when it comes upon you. For as long as it takes.
Eventually, you'll find your way back to the world and you may just come back
to it in a better state of mind than you had when left it.
Last week, Bill (Bdolling) posted a nice quote from Joni.
" I write by twiddling the strings into a different tuning - I throw it open
to the cosmos. Then when you discover something that has an element of divine
intervention, it's like a blessing."
Go throw that mood out to the cosmos. Next time it comes, look at it as a
gift, rather than a problem.

Subject: CD problems and other stuff (SJC)
Hi deb, sorry to hear that you are having a problem with your CD player. it
is my opinion that repair shops charge too much for their services. So as
much as I hate the phrase "it's cheaper to replace it than to repair it"
it's probably true! I am having a different problem with my player, when I
play a long CD (over 55 minutes) my player starts to skip through the final
tracks and then shuts down. My recomendation to you is if you are slightly
technicaly inclined you might want to open it up and try putting some light
gear grease on the gear mechanism. Don't be intimidated, the inner workings
of a CD player are really not too complicated and the gears are easy to
locate. Besides, if that doesn't work you are still going to have to replace
it. These days you can pick up a decent player for a little over 100 bucks.
Belive it or not there are some people who belive that the higher end
players such as the rotel (approx $800.00) are the only way to listen to
CDs. That may be true but who has that much money to spend on a CD player?
Personally, the principal that I go on as far as consumer electronics are
concerned is: If you like the way it sounds, that's all that's important, no
matter how little or how much it costs.
Now onto Howie Klein's comment in Billboard: I can't believe that he is
downplaying the importance of T T T. Back in the 80's, Klein was a free
thinking innovator when he started 415 Records and even before that when he
was involved with KUSF-FM.
He is in effect killing T T T before it even has a chance to be heard. I
suppose this is the typical record company bullshit that led people like
Zappa and the Dead to form their own record companies. I guess we can't
expect any help from commercial radio either with the exception of people
like Vin Scelsa and his show "Idiot's delight" (WNEW-FM New York)
We just going to have to spread the word ourselves!:-)

Hello list ... I'm just getting back into swing after McGwire's 61st

anyway, now that Summer is officially over (Marianna's got to go back to

Here comes the JC -- those who follow Moz will know that his latest

knowing as we all do that he thinks Joni is "the greatest songwriter on

thinking maybe so. Thoughts anyone?

Hi Tribe,
Just enjoying this labor day laboring. Some commerce intermingled with
preserving the harvest from our garden. As I am cutting tomatoes and listening
to TTT, I got this idea. What about putting together a tape of the JMDL's
greatest hits? What if we all recorded one song or two and then put them all
together? Mrs. Chili and I want to do "Magdalene Laundries" and maybe an
original composition? Is anyone else interested in collaborating on this? One
thing is certain, between all the members of our tribe we have the talent and
the resources to make one fantastic recording! Of course, these don't have to
just be Joni songs, we can do anything we want!

My copy of C&S *does* have the HDCD mark directly on the disc, in the 3
o'clock position. The Asylum number in the 9 o'clock position is 1001-2. And
both the HDCD mark and the 1001-2 number are printed on the back insert of the
jewel case. The number you gave is the UPC from the back insert.

conference Joni has given in promotion of an exhibition of Canadian art,
featuring her paintings.
"'Tracy Chapman wrote a coupla good songs, but generally speaking she's not
that musically gifted. And Suzanne Vega, well...' Mitchell devotes some
time to attempting what she calls 'a good adjudication' on the evidently
thorny and hugely popular subject: neurotic, chilly, heartless and overly
influenced by Leonard Cohen while lacking his black humour, is the gist of
the lengthy report."

If anybody knows of any local radio or TV appearances by Joni around Sept
18 when she plays the Old Town School Benefit ($2,500 a pop) please let us
know so we can try to tape them.
I noticed in The Reader that the Sept 18 performance was listed in a WXRT
ad as an "XRT Show". Does that mean it's being recorded by XRT for future
broadcast?
Finally, just picked up the book "Both Sides Now" a Joni bio by Brian
Hinton, from England. Anybody read it? How accurate is it?

Interviewer - "Sinatra did it - didn't he?"
Joni - "Poor Frank, though, they gave him this folk-pop arrangement that was
all wrong for him. I would love for him to have been able to really stretch

This probably has no bearing at all to your experiences but it seemed

Hey Howard and HDCD freaks:
I bought the HDCD C&S a long time ago. The liner notes are really goofy in
it. Compared to the LP, the CD doesn't have the raised type-just a shadow
of the letters! Plus a big crease in it, too, which really bugs me.
As for the UPC code, mine has the exact thing as yours.
The HDCD logo is only on my Asylum releases (Not on LOTC or Blue).
Hope this helps!

michael's post was a great record of this weekend. thanks to julie for the
full-fledged documentation, too. so many people i loved spending time
with. marian, all the way from vienna... katie and maggie, i got to know
a little better the next morning, but still, the complaint is the same as
pittsburgh: not enough time!
that's why i'm more sure than ever. jonifest99 in colorado is going to
ROCK. three days in the rockies. families! a much more extended gather.
mary grace, would you mind posting the info again? i know i sent a
deposit, but i don't even remember the dates.
one thing i really hope for in colorado is more non-joni in the singalong
mix. we all love joni, but i'm not the only one who had some great moments
singing other music. thank you michael paz. i intend to dig up and
photocopy tons of lyric sheets for some of my other favorites. julie and i
never got our elton john 'love song' but we will, some time.
heck, if we can convince jerry notaro to come, we may be able to put
together a quorum of musical comedy fans. we almost sang 'how to succeed'
at ashara's breakfast table. i'd been told i remind someone of robert
morse, a great compliment. (much nicer than the usual jerry lewis
comparison, and god didn't he look senile in the telethon last weekend?)
if some of you aspiring ones have some actual product, you can probably
write off the trip and sell to a captive audience. tr? denise? i suspect
bryan and claud could have cleaned up at jonifestne.
anyway no excuse for missing it. i know tempers fly on the list sometimes
(we snipe so steady, we snub so snide). my mom may have been a
pageant-winner but the miss congeniality gene clearly skipped me.
nevertheless, when we gather, magic happens. i'm fantasizing authentic
singing lessons from ashara, drumming and laughing with mendi, bryan and
sherelle duetting, climbing mountainsides, long music-appreciation sessions
in the boys dorm (count on it!).
and maybe michael will serve his patented gins-with-a-dash-of-sarin. yum.

I was in LA this past weekend (on cushy bizness) and doing a little
shopping over at the Beverly Center--Macy's Mens Store was having a big
sale. And while I was looking for shirts for the new suit I just
bought, the goddess started singing "Help Me". I was with my friend who
had gone with me to see JM at Pauley Pavilion and we began to sing, of
course. Earlier, we had lunch at the Daily Grill--but not the right
one--I wanted to go to the one in Brentwood but we went to the one in
Bev Hills, the one Joni doesn't frequent.
anyway. I have been looking for the August Mojo and can't find it. I
know, I know--it's September but I have been looking out for it for
months and the only one I saw had Massive Attack on the cover and the
only Joni mention in it was a review of the Dylan/JM/Van concert tour.
I think that issue was the July issue.
I am hoping that I can get a photocopy from someone of the Mojo
interview. Please let me know. I will pay any costs incurred on it.
Thanks.

A late response to the Rosanne and Mary-chapin thread.
Get Mary-chapin's early album, State of the Heart--great music,
especially one that I think is title Had it so good. (You never had it
so bad, I never had it so good) and Quittin' Time--which she didn't
write but is quite good nonetheless. there is also a funny song called
How Do about a savvy woman picking up a country boy who has just arrived
in the city (That's a real nice jacket, son, looks like it cost you,
too. . . . and we're miles and miles from the Texas line, are you in the
mood to speak some French tonight, et vous? Well, how do.)
someone thought that MCC was better live than recorded. I disagree--she
is different live than recorded and equally good on both. I saw MCC a
couple of times in one year and her shows were different each time and
the great thing about them was that the arrangements to most/some of the
songs were very different from the albums. So, it made the concert
fresh and different than those who just go out and repeat the album.
She was smokin'. I read a story once in Guitar Player magazine about
her when she was playing a small club in San Fran and in the beginning
of the set, the electricity went out in the building. So, they lit
candles or did something for light, and she got her acoustic guitar out
and her collaborator (John James or James Johnson) grabbed a guitar and
they sat on the bar in the center of the room and played an entire show
without amplification of any kind.
And Rosanne--oh my god, if you would have seen her on the Interiors
tour--when she played small clubs--and it was her, and a guitar player,
and a bass player--what a fine, fine show. and this was when she was
still denying that the album was about her and Rodney Crowell's
breakup. She was amazing.
And if you want to check out old Rosanne, check out her Greatest Hits
album, the one with the white cover. It contains all her supposed
country hits but none of it sounds that country to me. Sure, there are
guitar twangs and pedal steels but she doesn't sound that country.
Check out "Blue Moon with Heartache". Sweet mother of god. (I run into
that heartache just like a wall . . . what would I give to be a diamond
in your eyes again . . . "
And don't neglect the Wheel album either. Excellent followup to
Interiors.
Anyway, gotta go home and watch Sosa and McGwire.

I am a fan of both. They are both very talented. I have Bob Dylan's 30th

and thought she was wonderful. With her there are no frills, just good
singing/songwriting, a very talented lady. I have her last album - Stones
in the Road. Roseanne Cash is a great singer as well. I have a couple of
her CD's. When she and Rodney Crowell were married they made some great
music together. I have his greatest hits CD - he is a huge talent. He was
in Emmylou Harris' Hot Band for a number of years and she recorded several
of his songs. Rodney and Roseanne recorded a couple of great songs together -

Unfortunately, I'm being replaced by a machine at my solo piano gig at the
Sheraton in Chicago. I have two month's notice (until Nov. 8), so I just
wanted to reiterate my invitation to any Chicago-area JMDLers (or any JMDLers
passing through) to come on down for a semi-private concert of solo piano
Joni, Beatles, Dylan, Taylor, Gershwin, Simon, etc. One caveat: under no
circumstances will I play any Andrew Lloyd Weber (Android Leper).
I'm usually there 5-8:30 pm (except for a break around 6:30-7) on most
Sundays, Mondays, Fridays, and Saturdays (Sat. until 9 or 10, crowd
depending). But always email me first to make sure I'm gonna be there because
sometimes I sub out to play other gigs.
After Nov. 8, I will be unemployed, so I'm hanging my shingle out now: Will
play for food.
Until then, please come down and see me sometime.

Couple of comments from Rolling Stone magazine:
In the "What's Going On" Category:
On "Taming the Tiger"—Last spring Mitchell hit the road on a rare minitour.
Luckily, here studio habits have been more consistent; Taming the tiger
comes a mere four years after her last studio album.
In the "Performance" category: circa., Day in the Garden:
The other senior-circuit all-star for whom there was great anticipation,
Joni Mitchell, provided a less satisfying set. Leading an extra ordinary
band, Mitchell opted to spotlight here electric work from Hejira and on,
playing no acoustic guitar or piano. That would have been fine if the show
had included more surprises than a wistful rendition of "Just Like This
Train" and a straight cover of Marvin Gaye's "Trouble Man"; but despite the
obligatory "Big Yellow Taxi" and "Woodstock" encore, her set was austere and
distant doubly frustrating for fans of an artist who rarely plays the East
Coast. It was, ultimately, a lot like eating your spinach: You know it's
packed with vitamins, but you'd rather have ice cream.
There you go from Fred Goodman of Rolling Stone.

You all read my mind - I was just thinking about getting on this and wouldn't
you know it, but I received a thick envelope from LACMA in the mail today all
about both the Picasso and Van Gogh exhibitions! It looks like there will be a
$15.00 charge for tickets, but one can get more than their money's worth by
getting an annual membership. In addition to several other benefits, one can
get 2 free tickets to the Picasso (running from Sept. 6th through January 4,
1999), and 2 free tickets to the Van Gogh (running from January 17, through
April 4, 1999) by getting the $55.00 annual membership. Both of these
exhibitions look spectacular - 115 of Picasso's best works and more than 70 of
Van Gogh's most famous masterpieces. To join all you need to do is call (323)
857-6151. We should coordinate to get our tickets on the same date. I will
try to get more information tomorrow from LACMA and let you all know.

Hello All-
I don't know if I will ever recover from this weekend. Let me start
by thanking on of the most beautiful ladies (inside and out) that I have
ever met in my life. Ashara you have changed my life forever. Thank you
for being such a POSITIVE spirit and loving person. Your home was
beautiful and the Corn Chowder made me feel like I was home right from
the start. (It also qualifies you for Jewish Mother of The Year). God
has blessed you with an incredible voice and spirit and I wish you many
years to share it with everyone. If only more people were just somewhat
like you.
My trip started out with USAIR telling me my flight was delayed 3
hours (ugh!). With my strat strapped to my back I managed to convince
the wonderful lady at the counter that I would miss my performance that
evening if I did not make Boston to rondeveux with my band (flying in
from Vienna, L.A., etc.) at 7pm in Boston. She was my hero when she got
me in via Continental by 7:30pm. (a foot note here--a stewardess on the
plane noticing I was all out of breath and sweating brought me a towel
to dry off as soon as I sat down and then bought me quite a few Bloody
Marys on the way to Boston mainly because she said I reminded her of her
friend Bob. Thank you dear you dear, frankly I love it when you call me
names) Maggie and Marion another two beautiful ladies were waiting for
me at the airport. Maggie was a wonderful cook and co-hostess, alot of
fun to be with and Marion of course changed my life with her amazing
work on the tunings and tabs. Thanks to her I was able to learn many new
songs to play at the fest. (also thanx go out to Sue and Howard not
attending, but great experts on the tunings and tabs) It was such a joy
to play with her and sing so many songs. She is also an excellent VG-8
programmer now. I suggested to her that she have a Joni Fest in Austria
and lets see how many of you are really serious about this Joni thing.
Dinner was wonderful as I mentioned and so began my getting to know my
really good friends. Kakki was just as beautiful and fun as I had
anticipated by all that I have read on the list about her and she did a
damn fine job of singing Long Ago and Far Away by JT (even tho she left
the helium parts to Claud). And she is a wonderful travel companion,
driver, and Joni promoter (more on this later) What fun! Chuck turned
out to be my long lost musical partner. What a great player and singer.
I also have heard that he might be nominated for producer of the year
for his 1998 release of Live At Ashara's. Jim (my roommate for the
weekend) was another kindred soul that I hope to see again along with
everyone else, was our percussionist and singer for the jams. Pearl
(winner of the Joni look alike contest) was another kindred spirit of
mine that we shared some candid conversations about our spouses and
music. All I can say is Pearl don't you ever put that guitar down again.
I loved the way you sang. After dinner the VG-8 came out of my 80 lb.
suitcase of songbooks, and other implements. We stayed up so late
playing. The acclaimed duo of David and John showed up quite late and
yes folks everything they say about David's playing is true. What a fab
piano player. David anytime you want to move to New Orleans, my grand is
at your command. We can also start a joni tribute band (any ideas on
names??? the JoanTones, Little Green Men, Siquomb Singers, Boys to
Joanes,??? maybe I shouldn't have taken that last hit of brown acid.
John was wonderful too (and was assigned along with David, Jim, and I to
the boys room with a live snake) I think the only time he put down my
VG-8 was to take the wonderful pics that were part of the first Joni
Fest Web Cast or jam out on piano. So many talented people under one
roof and I could hardly believe it was only day one. I did not want to
stop playing and neither did Marion or anyone else. Sleep did not come
very easy for me as I was so high on the positive vibe that was
unfolding. I saw 5am before I succumbed to the arms of morpheus.
After only a few hours sleep I was up and had tea and cake
downstairs with Ashara (who of course had already posted by then) and we
all started preparing for the dinner of the decade. (By the way Ashara
b4 I forget, I left my SourOrange/Blackpepper spice there. Next time you
murder some carrots or some other non suspecting veggie like a tomato,
please try it. If you don't care for it, please forward to Maggie or my
good buddy and fellow barbecue partner on the neighbours porch, Ric.)
This is where I start to get cloudy about sequence of events with so
many new arrivals. Chuck arrived and started setting up the PA and
recording gear. We had a nice jam in the early afternoon to test the
system (of course). Claud amazed us with a rockin version of
Conversation. Heather came with our badges that were extremely well done
and now has a place of honour on the sound foam on the wall in my studio
above the computer. I really enjoyed meeting and partying with you. Ric
showed up with plenty of libations and gifts. What a charming and
wonderful person he is "live" as well as on digest. He also joined in on
the jam. (and thanks for picking up the cameras for me) Brian gets my
vote for being on the Joni tribute album. (I'm calling Reprise tomorrow
and suggesting that they add him to the list of performers even if the
album is already in the can. What the hell, they delayed Joni's TTT,
they can delay the tribute and add him. I also think, seeing as he is so
original, that he be allowed to do 3 songs { Black Crow, Little Green,
and Big Yellow Taxi} And I have to disagree with you Brian, Joni is
gonna love it. I do think that's a very clever hook though!! What an
incredible voice and player. I really enjoyed playing with him and being
able to hear him solo live.(really cute girlfriend too) By the way I
want to buy any recordings you may have out. Anytime you wanna come to
New Orleans, you gotta spot on Louisiana JukeBox.
All of my new friends are welcome in New Orleans, next time you feel
like getting together.
*It's now almost 2am here in the Crescent City, so I must go lay my
weary ass down. Only because I don't want to be fired for sleeping at my
desk as I did off and on today. I will bid you all a good night and take
more of my share of long winded bandwidth tomorrow. For all of you who
did not make it to Ashara's, I hope my account of this weekend will help
you change your mind and hearts about attending the next fest. Stay
tuned tomorrow for Part II.
with my soul all full up and my heart bursting
love
