Webb" Subject: JM in yearbooks Jmdler, Bob M. from South Carolina or "RMuRocks@aol.com" and I discovered, that his best friend/co-worker is from my hometown, Beaver Pennsylvania. After 'IM Chatting' with him, I looked thru my yearbook from 1976, my senior year, and found RMuRock's friend, who was a freshman then, photographed in the JV Band with his saxaphone. (He's my little brother's age.) Why is this of interest to all of you? Because I re-discovered that we, on the yearbook staff, used Joni MItchell's "Shadows and Light" lyrics and had the song printed in our yearbook along with quotes from other famous poets. How many of you, who graduated around 1976, had Joni's Lyrics in your high school yearbooks? I know it's kinda cheesy but I find it so true. We're a market that can be targeted, and yet we defy demographics, since we're, in effect, global. I guess I wanted Oprah to know that we're out here and we have an important voice in the ratings game -- I thought it would help our cause. But I absolutely love animals more > than anything (Yes, even Joni! ;) but just because I do eat meat that does > not mean I abuse animals, or people for that matter. And anyone with sense would realise that, Mark. Just because people hold differing opinions doesn't make them bad. Unfortunately many believe it does. people tend to see those that differ from them as being bad or less than. That is sad. To judge, condemn, ridicule or whatever is not going to help persuade anyone.Although I see the abuse of animals for our own ends as appalling, I do not see meat eaters as such. Life is never that simple. being vegetarian is not easy. you have to be able to cook and know nutitrion. Or you have to have enough money to buy ready made. Protein from veg sources are not so readily absorbed by some people with particlular diseases, tho I am sure with the right guidance can be overcome. Everyone being vegetarian would not alter the fact we have starving people in this world. there is already more than enough food to go around. The problem is a political one, not caused by meat eating. In ideal world we would not rear and slaughter animals the way we do. We may even eschew animal food altogther. We might also not run cars or anything else that cuases the poisoning of our planet, our home. A lessening of fear and education seems to me to the way to change society, not judgement and anger and shaming tactics. they do not work and say mcuh about those that use such tactics. I have no time for greenies who display such rage-they are working for their own personal agenda in the guise of a good cause. they give the movement and the cause a bad name. here they bomb people who are vivisectionists-a vile occupation to be sure but bombing them shows the sort of people behind those bombs to be sick in the head rather than freedom fighters. Look at the facts and if you want to be a vegetarian and can be, then do so. But only do it because you feel it is right-not because you are being bamboozled into it. A principle is only worth living up to if it is your own. colin > > > Much Joni (Stealing Jamie's sig), > > ____________________________________ > | Mark Domyancich | > | Harpua@revealed.net | > | http://home.revealed.net/Harpua/ | > |__________________________________| - -- but who is it who is so eager to see that society’s norms are observed, who persecutes and crucifies those with the temerity to think differently - -if not the ones who have had a ‘proper upbringing’?
