I liken these guys to a public radio station - they seem to be in it for the love of it rather than to make money. They seem to be good people and made it clear to me that they would never ask for money. Smoe is attractive to people like me, as it brings my annual expense down from $500 to $0. Helps me attain the goal of the Joni list always and forever being free. If Smoe works out, there may be an annual no-pressure fund raiser for them - but never, ever a cover charge. I like to think that they just don't like wasting money needlessly on a big web presence. They are not out there looking for new lists but I think they oblige those who approach them - especially if it's for a female artist.
