Just thought I would do my part to lift the spirits of everyone who was complaining this list was getting away from talking about MLL and about music in general. My happy story for the day was I recently bought a small cd player for my office at work so I could have something to listen to. Well, today I left my office for about fifteen minutes with BABY BLUE (one of a half dozen cds I constantly listen to) playing. When I came back I had four people asking me who the singer was and where I found this cd. Usually to get individuals I know to give MLL a whirl I have to launch into this whole description of what kind of music I think she plays and how it relates to what kind of music that individual listens to. It's kind of refreshing to know that Mary's music kind of sells itself. So my happy thought for the day is, hopefully, there are 4 new MLL fans out there. And that's exactly what this topsy-turvy world of ours needs, a couple more bohemians. - --Patrick ------------------------------ Date: Wed, 21 Apr 2004 11:04:44 +0200 From: Carsten Wohlfeld Subject: Re: [MLL] cosmic rough riders andrew wrote: > carsten my brother.. i respectfully disagree i think the cosmic rough riders > are super great... i have really enjoyed their record "too close to see far" > and live they can totally pull off the harmonies - all 4 guys sing - big pop > hooks - very teenage fanclub, big starish... not that far really from bands like > the thrills, minibar, maplewood. well, i didn't say i hate 'em or that the world will be a better place the day they disband or anything. yes, the ingredients are all there, and even though my two favorite bands are teenage fc and the posies, i just don't connect to the CRR in the same way. i can't explain it. i've only heard their poptones stuff though and met them only once, for an hour or so. carsten (reminder of mary lou content: she plays with the CRR in chi-town in may...) - -- http://carstenwohlfeld.com http://carstenwohlfeld.de "what's wrong with wanting to be at home with your record collection?" ~ nick hornby ------------------------------ Date: Wed, 21 Apr 2004 13:06:02 GMT From: Patrick T Power Subject: RE: [MLL] flames Jonathan asked: >>And something I've noticed...it seems that sometimes this list drops messages to some subscribers. Mary Lou, You have nothing to apologize for. I rather enjoyed it all, being a newbie here. It's good to stir up the nest once in awhile. You were totally right in your posts to "whatever her problem was, Lisa." I have been on too many sites that people get banned or censored for the dumbest things like not agreeing with the narrow mindsets that reside there. I love that Rachel gently reminds people that this is MLL's mailing list not John Kerry's...or Amy Emerman..or CL's legions of wicked flying monkey fans.. Your mailing list is a breath of fresh air. Plus it's nice to know you can be so innocent & sweet and still kick ass!! You have always been my role model, even tho I am older than you - I still have lots to learn. Thank you always for your inspiration, your beautiful voice, guitar playing and your wonderful choice of songs. You are an angel you shouldn't fuck with. ~ Donna Bopst@aol.com wrote: You guys...first of all...I know that many of you guys on this list are used to a sleepy little list that you've subscibed to, not meaning to get FLOODED by high -school equivelant quarrelling by silly people you don't care to know about it...He he...I'm so sorry ya'll.....I hope that this pitter patter calms down soon and this list returns to its sleepy little (but extremely musically and integrity riddled state it's always been in....) I'm sure it will....Jesus..I really do feel like I'm In "highschool again"...Dino...I don't know about you, but I am confused about the posts...One minute she hates me and the next she thinks I'm "the shit" ...I don't get it.....whatever...I'm just somewhat embarrassed by how many silly posts have entered this mailing list...I'm SOOO SORRY you guys.... Another cause, not talked about much, but messages are sometimes dropped due to various technical glitches, some ISP's are worse than others... and list mail is BULK mail, some ISP's (and one is famous for this) purge BULK mail when they have peak periods, to reduce their mail load. - -- John ------------------------------ End of jinglejangle-digest V7 #57 *********************************
