Mary Lou has always championed other artists (I first heard of Elliott Smith and Gillian Welch from her postings) and she has also been nice about loaning her space here for updates from the musicians and writers among us. That said, the AE posts WERE becoming somewhat relentless. If they'd had more of a human touch (like Amy's response to Rachel) they wouldn't have seemed so "hard sell." I still want to hear about other musicians with links to Mary Lou, and I hope that continues. At any rate, Amy didn't get yelled at nearly as much as I did when I reviewed a fictitious Mary Lou bootleg! (Right, Rachel?) I had asked Amy if she could limit her postings to once a month, then didn't hear back and found another post and more responses, so I wrote to her again. I personally do not mind the occasional off-topic post but if people are unhappy, then I'd like to do my best to keep the list on topic. That said, please all of you feel free to post about Baby Blue, other Mary Lou music, reviews, shows, where you want her to play, whatever. Speaking of, Rubric has the official news of Mary Lou's upcoming Bob Dylan tribute gig and other tour dates: from http://www.rubricrecords.com MARY LOU LORD TO PLAY "BLOOD ON THE TRACKS" TRIBUTE AT LINCOLN CENTER, NYC Mary Lou Lord will join John Hammond, Joan Osbourne, Ron Sexsmith, Jesse Harris, Vernon Reid and Chocolate Genius in tribute to Bob Dylan's "Blood On The Tracks" album June 29th at the esteemed Lincoln Center. Mary Lou is back home revving up for a May 3-date swing through Virgina, a couple home area gigs in Salem & Cambridge and a Sweden tour in support of Baby Blue. Also in the works is an Irish tour with Josh Ritter following the Swedish tour with a London date in between. 4/25/2004 Washington, DC IOTA 4/26/2004 Richmond, VA The Nanci Raygun 4/27/2004 Charlottesville, VA Gravity Lounge 5/7/2004 Cambridge, MA TT's the Bears 5/12/2004 Malmo, Sweden Inkonst 5/13/2004 Oslo, Norway Garage 5/14/2004 Gothenburg, Sweden Pustervik 5/15/2004 Stockholm, Sweden Mondo 5/16/2004 Vaxjo, Sweden Smalands Nation 5/17/2004 London, UK Borderline 5/27/2004 Salem, MA Dodge Street Rachel ------------------------------ End of jinglejangle-digest V7 #48 *********************************
