"I grew up a few blocks from here," I said. "I'm from Boston, and before that, Quebec." "Oh! Do you know Mary Lou? She busks in the subway tunnels." "Long blonde hair? Acoustic guitar? Yeah, I've seen her!" ------------------------------ Date: Tue, 26 Aug 2003 16:35:15 -0700 From: Cinnamon Brunmier Subject: Re: [MLL] NoHo Encounter Funny...I had a similar encounter not too long ago: My friend Dave Gibbs used to be in a band called GIGOLO AUNTS and lived in Boston for a time. (Note: Besides the fact that I've already had a Six Degrees moment when Dave showed me a video tape from their old practice space in Boston from like 10 years ago and I saw Dan Efram, the manager of Clem Snide whom I know from NYC, in the video...another event like yours occured...but I digress) Anyway...another guy I've known for YEARS YEARS named Dan Nunan was at a BBQ I was at and he was talking about never seeing Dave's band when he lived in Boston but that he knew about them. And then, out of the blue, he said..."There used to be this great, cute little blonde girl that would always play guitar in the train station. I can't remember her name but I think she had a record deal for a little bit." And I, of course, screamed: MARY LOU LORD!!! And he was like "Yeah, that was it. I used to see her all the time. She was really good. Whatever happened to her." So, of course, I told him all about MLL and Annabelle and City Sounds and blah blah blah...but so funny that I've known this guy for like 6 years and knew he was from Boston and yet, somehow, MLL never came up (p.s. Rachel: You met him at my infamous New Years Party with Thomasina nr Port Authority - -- he was Samantha's roommate) Mary Lou makes the world go round...
