I happened to be in Boston/Cambridge/Somerville on business - OK, distributing the new issue of our magazine - and when I got to Passim's to drop off there I saw ML was playing. So, though I was a little sleep-deprived and had a two hour drive home, I stuck around. However, it took so long to find a parking space I missed half the set! But I did get to hear a few new songs, including "The Birthday Song" (new to me, anyway, and much appreciated as my birthday was the previous Tuesday), and some faves, including "Black Vincent" and "His Lamest Flame." She was indeed dealing with a cold, and was a bit hesitant about the high notes there, but after hedging on the first time around she went for, and reached, the rest. Sweet. This and "Galway To Graceland" were possibly in tribute to the 25th anniversary of Elvis' death that day. She said something about loving the club but feeling like she didn't belong on the stage there, where so many greats have performed. I told her afterward she deserved to be there. But maybe they could run a microphone out to the street if that would have made her more comfortable. ;-) Good for a chuckle anyway. It was also nice to be able to hand her a copy of the magazine in which "Live City Sounds" is included on my Best of 2001 list. No great insight in my review, but she earned and deserved inclusion in that list as well. And finally, I agree, she looks very nice with her hair down. Till next time, Journey Bear >Did anyone happen to make the Club Passim show last >night (Friday, 8/16)? _________________________________________________________________ MSN Photos is the easiest way to share and print your photos: http://photos.msn.com/support/worldwide.aspx ------------------------------ End of jinglejangle-digest V5 #97 *********************************
