The opening line fits her perfectly ("You ask me why I change the color of my hair...") and the her voice would capture the girlie-pop dynamics to a T. Listen to the song and see if you don't agree. ------------------------------ Date: Wed, 17 Jul 2002 10:51:31 -0700 From: Hanson Ho Subject: [MLL] Tangential Mary Lou content I saw Ben Gibbard (of Death Cab for Cutie fame) do a solo set last weekend in Seattle, and like Mary Lou, he did an awesome cover of Billy Bragg's St. Swithin's Day. That went along with covers of Jacko's Thriller, The Saddest Story Ever Told by the Magnetic Fields, and Cyndi Lauper's Girls Just Wanna Have Fun. Now, I was thinking: wouldn't it be awesome if Mary Lou covered Girls Just Wanna Have Fun? I love covers that are completely different from the original (a la Jump and Smells Like...), and I'm sure GJWHF would bring the house down! :-) Hanson, with "mmmm.... covers" issues - -- "Where'd you get that accent?
