This is good, but not what I'd expected. (Not having followed Cheap Trick's career that closely, I think I'm permitted to be ignorant of these connections.) My answer to this question is: When Todd Rundgren left The Nazz to start his solo career, he was replaced by Rick Neilsen, later the guitarist for Cheap Trick. That certainly partially explains both 1 & 2 provided by Lee. We have got some serious music fans on this list. Gotta love it! Neither Nielsen nor Petersson were in the Nazz. They were in a band called Fuse with Nazz keyboardist/vocalist Stewkey after the Nazz broke up. Even more obscure trivia: Fuse was once called The Grim Reapers, but changed their name after an ill-fated gig opening for Otis Redding's last gig (before his plane crashed in Madison, Wis.). 04/22/02 11:43 AM, Jeff from Oxford at leapday@goes.com wrote: > Someone wrote: > >> My answer to this question is: When Todd Rundgren left >> The Nazz to start his solo career, he was replaced by Rick Neilsen, later > >> the guitarist for Cheap Trick. >> > I believe Tom Petersson was also in the Neilson-era Nazz lineup. > > Jeff ------------------------------ Date: Mon, 22 Apr 2002 11:13:54 -0400 From: Recordings@aol.com Subject: [MLL] Quiz Question Any takers on my quiz question? What is the only song Mary Lou played fuzz lead guitar on? (Note: it is not listed on the album sleeve, and I only know about it because Mary Lou told me, though I believe she also mentioned it in an interview somewhere.) ------------------------------ Date: Mon, 22 Apr 2002 12:08:01 -0500 (EST) From: "Jeff from Oxford" Subject: Re: [MLL] Cheap Trick/Nazz >Actually, that's not quite right. I guess it depends on which reference book you consult. Vernon Joynson's "Fuzz, Acid & Flowers" is my source and they are usually pretty accurate. The Nazz entry is excerpted below: The Nazz Personnel: ROBERT 'STEWKEY' ANTONI piano, vcls THOM MOONEY drms TODD RUNDGREN ld gtr CARSON VAN OSTEN bs RICK NIELSON gtr TOM PETERSSON gtr When Todd Rundgren left in 1970 he was replaced by Rick Nielson and Tom Petersson who were later both members of Cheap Trick. You are correct about Fuze. My friend has their LP - not too bad, but not really like CT either. Jeff ------------------------------ End of jinglejangle-digest V5 #62 *********************************
