I got there a little late, but so did Mary Lou, so I only missed a couple of songs. Here's what I heard: New Thing Now I Figured You Out Twilight Aim Low I Don't Want To Get Over You Thunder Road She Turns Me On Beeswing Hey There Antoinette Two Boats (and then I wrote down a question mark and I don't recall why. I don't think there was another song.) When we first came in the store she was wearing dark sunglasses and was singing "New Thing Now" in a kind of sneering, Bob Dylan 1966 style. I thought she was maybe in a bad mood or something, but when she spoke between songs it was obvious this wasn't the case. She had an interesting introduction for "I Figured You Out" which I hadn't heard before -- she said it was about "the end of a relationship, or something like that." Then she started to play it, and stopped, and said, "No, I think this song is like this guy who's on tour with this girl who's got record labels interested in her, and he's the opening act, and all the record people aren't interested in him, they just buy him drinks. And maybe the song is about the girl." She sounded quite good. I noticed several older men tapping their feet during "Thunder Road" and later during another song (maybe "Beeswing"). I pointed this out to her, and she said that her audience is all older guys and teenage girls. They have Rubric Records posters promoting the Live City Sounds and the single -- they have the picture that is on the back of the Live City Sounds booklet, and little pictures of the album and the single.
