I'm reading Peter Humphries' biography of Richard Thompson, and Richard is quoted as recalling from his childhood: "I was six years old and I couldn't really say what I was really into. Life happened to you at that age - you did what you were told - went to school - and went through the processes, you know. Musical trends and fashion trends aren't necessarily as interesting as train spotting or Champion the Wonder Horse on TV or something or a game of cricket out back with the lads." So, clearly, the influence of this TV show on a generation of English singer-songwriters was profound! Michael - -- "I fill my days with work 'cause I am lazy."
