I don't know when this review is going to run, and it will be edited a bit for grammar, but here is the review I wrote for Toast Magazine (toastmag.com, I've been a writer for them for awhile), if anyone is interested. Ever hear an album so good it makes you shiver in delight. This album does. And it was recorded on a portable DAT machine, in the Park Street subway station in Boston where Mary Lou is a busker. What a way to start the year, with an album Mary Lou has had been selling on her own for a while and is now out on Rubic Records. And confirms that she is as good a song interpreter as Bonnie Raitt, and anyone who could be in the same league as her is great. Highlights include Shawn Colvenbs Ricochet In Time, Both Richard Thompson songs, Beeswing and Vincent 52,Big Starbs Thirteen, Sandy Dennybs By The Time It Gets Dark, and Springsteenbs Thunder Road. And on her own His Lamest Flame, a co-write with Nick Salomon, she proves that she is a great songwriter, too. This is not what's going to look like on Toast's site. AOHell. Andrea ------------------------------ End of jinglejangle-digest V5 #6 ********************************
