I won't say too much, but in > one > song she kept pronouncing Johnny Winter's name as "Yawnny Winter" > ughhh. perhaps if you'd known that amy ray is not referring to johnny winter, but Jann Wenner, founder of Rolling Stone magazine, and that she is talking about how notoriously unsupportive of women he is "gave the boys what they desreve, but with the girls he lost his nerve", (neither RS nor SPIN has every interviewed the indigo girls), you might have at least enjoyed that song a little more. i quite like the southern roots rock amy is performig solo, not to mention she has enlisted some incredible musicians to back her up; rock*a*teens the butchies, danielle howle, joan jett, kate schelenbach, josephine wiggs... i'm not realy a fan of the indigo girls, but this album is quite good, at east worth checking out. i was at a few good shows at sxsw myself: brassy was really impressive - jon spencer's sister, muffin, and band, doing a hip-hop/rock/scratch thing the haggard and tami hart played a non-sxsw show during the week that was incredible kristen hersh at the texas union theatre was incredible, i have never had the opportunity to see her live before, so i was really anticipating it, but i never thought the performance would exceed my expectations. WOW!! the blake babies of course were great, they did an in-store as well as the night slot so twice in a day was heaven sarah harmer = great gillian welch & david rawlings, always great i know i'm missing more, but there are so many as is every year, there is never enough time to see all you want. i did go down 6th every night to see if mry lou was there and was sad to miss her. ~michelle ________________________________________________________________ GET INTERNET ACCESS FROM JUNO!
