CDs includesRetsin, Bright Eyes, Ted Leo/the Pharmacists, 33.3, Cerberus Shoal, One AM Radio, the Lapse + more. 33 tracks in all. The packaging is also amazing on this one. This is must have! http://www.insound.com/annex/search.cfm?query=palaz%20of%20hoon Also, the new issue of Girlfriends magazine (http://www.girlfriendsmag.com but I don't know if the review is online) has a small review of the split with Sean Na Na: by Lindsay Marsak: Boston subway riders know Mary Lou Lord as a blonde with an acoustic guitar. Here, covering songs by Janis Martin, Lucinda Williams, and The Bevis Frond, she's not alone. The Raging Teens back her up on "Bang Bang" with some rockabilly swong. After the slower "Hard Road," Lord goes pop again with Nick Saloman's slacker anthem, "Aim Low." Blessed with a complex talent, Lord proves once again she can switch genres with the best of them. Sean Na Na (a k a Sean Tillman) scores with his hilarious "Princess and The Pony," chronicling the transformation of his own funeral from pity party to jumpin' wake. The singer/songwriter considers the lyric of his own "Strecth Marks" insufficiently cynical. Mr. Na Na closes ith his own verison of Lucky Jeremy's "My Old France." This is must have! > A second vote for one of the best comps of the year. Most (all?) of the tracks are exclusives, (the Bevis Frond is particularly excellent) and very few seem like throwaways. A very nice intro to some of today's unknown artists that nevertheless always seem to pop up in conversation or on discussion lists. There's some pop, some psych, some ambience, some punky stuff and even some spoken word from Terhan Bey (I think that's him - my set is at home) Jeff ------------------------------ Date: Wed, 26 Jul 2000 22:42:23 EDT From: SeanJordan@aol.com Subject: [MLL] Old CMJ... Sigh, I didn't make it to the L.A. show, just too much going on with work and such... But anyway, I stumbled across a store selling a copy of the CMJ with MLL on its cover for $5. If anyone wants me to grab it, lemme know... CD features "Lights Are Changing." ------------------------------ End of jinglejangle-digest V3 #97 *********************************
