It was good? Oh well, I guess I'll catch Mary Lou at Brownies' if she's still playing that show ________________________________________________________________________ Get Your Private, Free E-mail from MSN Hotmail at http://www.hotmail.com ------------------------------ Date: Wed, 5 Jul 2000 07:04:39 -0700 (PDT) From: Rachel Bussel Subject: [MLL] Central Park show I thought the Central Park show was excellent...Mary Lou sounded great, the sound was good, very clear, and even some people weren't paying attention to Mary Lou but a lot of people were. This girl next to me asked me after she left the stage where she could get her CDs. I may be missing something, but I think the setlist wa: Western Union Desperate I Don't Want To Get Over You (Magnetic Fields) 1952 Vincent Black Lightning (Richard Thompson) He'd Be A Diamond She's Still Bewitching Me (Green Pajamas) Thunder Road (Bruce Springsteen) Hey, Antoinette! (Lois) I Figured You Out (Elliott Smith) the last song was one I heard her play last time and don't know it, though we may have discussed it on the list. It was really really pretty and the lines I remember are: she was a rare thing fine as a bee's wing... and I wouldn't want her any other way She introduced that one by saying she was gonna get real folkie on us. I'd never heard Mary Lou do "Thunder Road," and not really being a Springsteen fan, I don't even know if I've ever heard it, but it was really great. I'm sure I'd probably like any covers Mary Lou does, but really, I just like that there are new things to hear every time I see her play, which by now has to be at least 20 times! The weather also totally cooperated and it was really sunny. Joan Jett rocked out...she was great. I'm looking forward to the August 6th show! :) Rachel ===== Rachel Kramer Bussel Visit my website at http://raquelita8.tripod.com Lusty Lady column, http://ctomag.com/may16cto/newlust.html Reviews Editor, Venus or Vixen, http://www.venusorvixen.com __________________________________________________ Do You Yahoo!? When Mary Lou did Thunder Road, Shawn Colvin surprised her and came out and sang harmonies. It threw Mary Lou for a loop (as they say).
