Truthfully, I feel that Mary Lou is a brilliant artist coiled and itchin' to explode. Her EPs, in my book, hints at this (EPs have to be great or their short running time just ain't worth sitting through another MTC CD), but her CD Got No Shadow proves it. Sure, the production is a bit soft for some, but her songs and her delivery are startling. The production even expands her sound nicely. Besides, Jingle Jangle Morning works wonders to drown out Wingdings up here. I'd love to hear >I bet your Mormon Tabernacle Choir review was great. :). If anyone can tell me where to find the MLL Chord Archive I would be sooo happy. I have been learning all the songs just by listening to them on CD's, but some tablature would make that so much easier!!! Thanks very much! Evan =) Felt a little uneasy on easy street, Out of place and incomplete call it guilt, Call it what you will, Kissed good-bye the summer sky, Hollywood and Malibu tides, Through thick and thin you got a good friend in me, Just give me a beer and give me a bed, Chase the demons out of my head, Play me a song and sing me to sleep, And meet me in the middle of my dreams, Well I've seen the sun rise from the cliffs at Point Reyes, And I've seen it set upon Thunder Bay, But I always keep my compass set on you, When the night comes in and the stars come out, The highway lines start to wear me out, It'll be ok cause I'm coming back home to you, And distant salutations and silly souvenirs, Can't help your twilight loneliness, Or brush away your tears, I'll wire you some love today, There's so much more I want to say, But I'm Western Union desperate, In a payphone in the rain, And it's so insane, I'm Rimbaud and you're Verlaine, So hey! California here I come, I got my old backpack and a sunburnt thumb, I hope my compass is tried and true, 'Cause when I need a friend it's still you. ~MARY LOU LORD~ ~WESTERN UNION DESPERATE~ ______________________________________________________ Get Your Private, Free Email at http://www.hotmail.com ------------------------------ Date: Fri, 25 Feb 2000 20:53:28 EST From: AWeiss4338@aol.com Subject: Re: [MLL] New CD plus Lester Bangs in a movie True, very true, you are. You sure it's still untitled? While I know it's not official, I've heard repeatedly that the title is STILLWATER, which is the name of the band featured in the film... Not sure how appropriate any modern MLL would be in there, since the film is set in 1973... (It didn't seem as though she was there.) Also, if you have a chance to see Elliott Smith on this solo acoustic tour, you should definitely go. It was one of the best shows I've ever seen. He is an amazing guitar player! And he was even taking requests.
