I'm thinking that even if you didn't think the character was anything like Mary Lou, you probaby didn't think she was anything like Lisa Bonet. Lisa Bonet first gained fame as one of the daughters on the Cosby Show about 10 or 15 years ago. After that she seemed to become much more "hip". She was featured mostly naked on the front of the Rolling Stone "hot" issue, and played the female lead in the sex & voodoo movie Angel Heart. At one point she was married to lenny Kravitz (I think before his first album came out; I don't know when they divorced). It seems to me that she is much too hip & cool, and not really "normal" enough to portray the singer from the book. However, she is technically an actor, and therefore could "act." Farrah Fawcett and Cher both have a glamorous personal image, but have done very well portraying "normal" people. > also: somehow i can't see how this book can be made into a good movie. i > mean, it was a great book, but a lot of it was just the humorous internal > dialogue. i can't see how this movie can be very interesting. I would have to agree at first glance, but the internal dialogue part of Fight Club was done quite well (though I didn't read the book). Also Trainspotting had a narrator aspect to it, and that seemed okay. Smilla's Sense of Snow, on the other hand, was an excellent book, but the movie just could not have been worse (possibly because all the internal dialogue was tossed out.) I seriously need to reread the book before I see the movie cause I've forgotten much of it. I see from IMDB that Joan Cusack, Lili Taylor, Sara Gilbert and Catherine Zeta-Jones are also going to be in this movie...and I think was already mentioned, John Cusack is starring. Here's the synopsis I found on the web, but if you haven't read the book, you should really do so: Based on the cult novel of the same name by Nick Hornby, High Fidelity follows the 'mid-life' crisis of Rob (Cusack), a thirty-something record-store owner who must face the undeniable facts - he's growing up. In a hilarious homage to the music scene, Rob and the wacky, offbeat clerks that inhabit his store expound on the intricacies of life and song all the while trying to succeed in their adult relationships. Are they listening to pop music because they are miserable? Or are they miserable because they listen to pop music? This romantic comedy provides a touching and whimsical glimpse into the male view of the affairs of the heart. Also, Neko Case has a new album called Furnace Room Lullaby coming out on Feb. 22 on Bloodshot - yay! Maybe she will do more shows cause the 2 times I've seen her she's been lots of fun. :) Rachel __________________________________________________ Do You Yahoo!?
