She is playing on Nov. 27 somewhere in Boston and so are the Raging Teens, I don't know the venues. I'm gonna head up that weekend for the shows and to get out of New York. Also the Raging Teens are playing this Saturday, the 30th, at Rodeo Bar in NYC - they usually go on around midnight but call the club to confirm. As for other stuff, Natalie Merchant has a live album coming out Nov. 9 that should be pretty good...I went to the Rosie O'Donnell show yesterday to see Natalie and they were playing cuts from the album. That episode is airing tomorrow the 28th. Rachel ------------------------------ Date: Wed, 27 Oct 1999 17:00:49 -0400 From: "Lee S. I personally just got the new Meredith I saw Mary Lou playing in Harvard Square a couple weeks ago. She has added some new songs to her repetoire, including Bruce Springsteen's "Atlantic City" and Sting's "Fields of Gold". The latter I thought was much better than Sting's version, it sounds very obviously like a folk song when Mary Lou does it. I thought it seemed pretty repetitive, however, and talked to Mary Lou about this. I thought it was just kind of a repetitive song, but she said that she hadn't quite figured out how to do it yet. Mary Lou has also been going on about Eva Cassidy to the people on the street. Apparently Kevin turned her on to Eva Cassidy, who is a D.C.-based blues(?) singer, and Mary Lou was quite impressed by her voice. I looked around the web for Eva Cassidy references yesterday, and apparently she is the source of Mary Lou's "Fields of Gold" -- there is an MP3 of Eva Cassidy's version somewhere. Eva Cassidy died of cancer a few years ago, at the young age of 33. I took some pictures when I saw her, and though they didn't come out as well as I liked, I will probably put them on the web at some point relatively soon.
