a while ago mary lou mentioned in an interview that she really likes  
"arthur mcbride" by andy irvine & paul brady. that record, from the 70s,  
is pretty hard to get these days, but rykodisc will release "nobody knows  
- - the best of" by paul brady in september, which features a new (solo)  
recording of that song along with 12 of his best known tunes and another  
new recording of the traditional "the lakes of pontchartrain", which of  
course has been played by everybody from peter case to bob dylan. a very  
fine record indeed. also, there's a new richard thompson album on emi,  
which is way better than his last two records, imho, and a new album by  
plainsong (feat. ian matthews), released in europe on blue rose.

oh yeah and as you probably know already, madder rose have a new album out  
on cooking vinyl / thirsty ear. it's called "hello june fool" and it's  
fab, obviously.

just thought i'd mention it.
