The skys opened about an hour after things finished up. I caught Mary Lou at the Raging Teens' show the night before & got the set times, so I showed up on time. Mary Lou played for a little more than half of an hour -- a set shortened by the threat of rain. She pretty much stuck to her heavy rotation list, but did play a couple of newer songs that she said she'd be recording soon. Having heard that she was covering Thunder Road, I was curious how she'd do it. I'd not known that Springsteen had arranged it for MTV unplugged, but I suppose that's where MLL started & I was happy that she ended her set with that. Aimee played a few songs on guitar with keyboard accompaniment and then added a band that she'd put together & played with that day which sounded pretty good. She played a few of her new songs and mostly older stuff. I'll need to listen to the preview EP a while to decide about the new songs. I was really glad that she played the Jules Shear song -- whatever it's called -- I really like that one. I was amused that she was a little freaked out by the Best Buy mascott (a dancing blue & yellow price tag) -- that did add a certain surreal element. It's packed away, that is, unless I sent it off to Rachel as I had meant to a year or so back (sorry darling...). Doubt you could find one these days, but perhaps try writing KRS in Olympia and see if they have any promotional MLL materials they can get you. If I'm not mistaken, I got sent it with the "Some Jingle Jangle Morning" 7". ~ ------------------------------ Date: Mon, 16 Aug 1999 15:54:24 -0400 (EDT) From: raquelita@alloymail.com Subject: Re: [MLL] MLL poster Indeed, I don't have that poster, but I've seen it...hopefully I can get one sometime. The coolest MLL poster I've ever seen was for her Troubadour show in March 1998 - it was this paper doll cutout style one...tres cute. I didn't grab one fast enough off the wall and then some really sweet boy gave me his copy, but I left it at my family's in LA - maybe it's still there, somewhere. I'd say write to Kill Rock Stars - they have email now, go to http://www.killrockstars.com and you can probably get better info. And since Mary Lou is putting out the 7" soon on KRS they'll hopefully want to help us fans out... :) Rachel Sean Jordan wrote: > In a message dated 8/14/99 9:09:34 PM Pacific Daylight Time, Edina33@aol.com > writes: > > << I remember someone mentioning awhile ago that they had a Mary Lou poster, > I believe a GNS one, that they had signed and I was just wondering if anyone > could tell me where I could get one or who i could write to or any info. > like > that. >> > > Actually, I'm one of the few probably that has a MLL poster from the > self-titled EP back on KRS.
