Since I've only heard Mary Lou play this once (very well), I'd like to get my hands on a hard copy of it. Which station is it? And what is the comp called? Mucho gracias amigos. My name is Olivia and I'm from London Ontario Canada. I saw Mary Lou Lord perform at Call The Office in London on May 15. Ever since the show I've been a fan. I had first heard about Mary Lou through Elliott Smith. I'm a HUGE Elliott fan. So anyway, when I found out that MLL was coming to London I jumped at the chance to see "Elliott's friend". Mary Lou was hanging around the bar with guys from the opening bands (Kepler and Snailhouse). There was some lady with her all the time as well. I thought it was her mother at first, but then I found out that her mother has passed away. Does anyone know who the women was? During the opening bands sets a couple of us audience people pulled up chairs to watch the bands play, MLL and the mystery lady did the same. If any of your are wondering MLL was wearing a big black puffy coat (even though it was warm that day), dark blue rolled up jeans, a green t-shirt that had a revolver on it, and a diamond necklace choker type thing. Oh and really cool boots. I loved them. During Snailhouse's performance, the guy Mike (I think his name is) coaxed MLL to come up on stage and sing a Neil Young song. I don't remember the name of the song, sorry. At some point, while MLL was sitting with the 'women'I walked up to her tapped her on the shoulder and she looked up with her cigarette in her mouth and said "yeah?" in a disgruntled manner. I asked her to sign my friends and mine ticket stub. She signed my friends first, she wrote "Joanna, thanks for coming, *heart* Mary Lou Lord", mine she wrote "Olivia, thank you for coming to my teeny intimate show, *heart* Mary Lou Lord". Being an Elliott fan I know that Elliott has written songs for her and that she plays some of his songs, so I asked if she'd play and Elliott cover for me and she said yes. So then she played her set, she never did a soundcheck earlier. Some of the song she played were, not in any order : Book Vincent Black Lightning 1952 Cinderella Backstreet Speeding Motorcycle He'd Be a Diamond That Kind of Girl Lights are Changing I Figured You Out (she dedicated this to me!!!! yay!!!) Western Union Desperate His Lamest Flame Hey, Antoinette! Not Half Right (Heatmiser) she did other songs but I just don't know the titles of them. So she played her songs then go off the stage walked around the venue in a circle, lit a cigarette and got back on stage to play some more songs. When she was done, I walked up to her and asked to get a picture with her and she agreed. The picture is really cool, because we both have the same smile. Also, for anyone interested, MLL was on the cover of SCENE magazine, a music newspaper type of deal. The cover is in color, and the inside has an interview and a picture. I have on extra copy if anybody would like to trade. I'm also looking for any bootlegs that someone might have for a trade. Take care, Olivia ______________________________________________________ Get Your Private, Free Email at http://www.hotmail.com ------------------------------ End of jinglejangle-digest V2 #72 *********************************
