Yes, can someone PLEASE confirm the info about June 18th. I was planning on seeing Mary Lou at Fletcher's until the New Haven thing came up. I know Mary Lou keeps herself awful busy, but even she can't be in two places at once! It's at the Iota Cafe, a beautiful and very tasteful little venue in Arlington on Wilson Blvd. that is unfortunately 21+, on Sunday June 20th. Mary Lou has played there before (I haven't seen her there) and they always have a great audience there; it's a real musically appreciative crowd. According to today's CityPaper, the opening act is someone named Marge Calhoun, whom I'm never heard of In further Mary Lou news, I met a very nice young woman in DC tonight playing at The Rock (near MCI Center, for DCites) who did lovely versions of one Bevis Frond song which MLL has covered, as one of her own pieces. Her name is Claire, and she apparently plays the Iota each Open Mike night on Wednesdays - I would urge any DC-area fans to check her out sometime. Among other pieces, she also did stuff by the Sundays, Beatles, Gloria Gaynor, Tammy Wynette and the Rolling Stones - very likely to impress a fan of MLL's style of interpretation. n.p.
