I lived in Boston over the summer for fun, so I was able to see Mary Lou...now that I'm back home in Harrisburg PA, I'm glad to see she's going to be close to where I am! If anyone knows where that is, let me know! Grant Lee was there but wouldn't play. Dave Alvin was also there but wouldn't play. I wish I were able to go see Aimee and Michael's shows on Tuesdays, Grant Lee's on Thursdays, and some more of Jon's. Jon Brion wasn't as awe inspiring as I was led to believe, but he was good. Real good. What have I been listening to? Michelle Malone - devil moon Shawblades Paul McCartney - Band On The Run Maria McKee Gina Carranza - Orange Dreams and a ton of Del Amitri! I was surprised and pleased to get a call from Mary Lou the other day. I'm not bragging, since I haven't spoken to her in close to two years (saw her at the Troub a while back but we didn't get to talk) and the last call I got was when I was in hospital while SHADOW was still being made. Anyway, suffice it to say that she is as cool and down-to-earth as ever - maybe more so. Things are not perfect in her world but her attitude about life is so level-headed and accepting - I'm sure Annabelle has a lot to do with it. She says her new songs aren't easy to play alone on guitar, which I thought was funny since the songs for GOT NO SHADOW were mostly written for acoustic/electric guitar and voice, then "expanded" to band format - and now she has new songs that are already "band format" but she can't play them on acoustic guitar! She also said supporting kevin's release has been a lot of fun for her since kevin has always been the one lugging her amp around and supporting her - it's like she's paying him back, in a way. She says sales of the TEENS CD are good and reminded me that I needed to get a copy. I tried to tell her all the stories I've been saving up for two years, but she seemed to know a lot of them --- once again I was reminded that, believe it or not, she DOES get online and reads posts and knows what's going on! I used to think I could ramble on and on about how much I loved her when I was online, but then I'd see her and she'd say: "I saw those posts." GULP! Oh well, I do love her dearly and I couldn't be happier for her... oh yeah, she mainly called to say congratulations on our own upcoming child and to catch up in general. She also said nice things about rachel, and of course I had to say: "Did you see us standing TOGETHER at the Troubador? Isn't it cool that me and Rachel were TOGETHER?" Yeah, yeah, yeah...
