I played Western Union Desperate... also, in non-MLL news, there's this guy Damien Jurado that Mary Lou was talking about and I finally listened to his CD and it's SO good...it's very gentle, mellow, sweet, kinda like Elliott Smith mixed with Nick Drake - - he sounds a lot like Nick Drake to me, though I think he's from Seattle...his album is called Rehearsals for Departure...he has another album too but I haven't heard it, but anyway, it's quite lovely. what's everyone else been listening to? :) Rachel ------------------------------ Date: Tue, 20 Apr 1999 10:54:28 -0400 From: Cinnamon Girl Subject: Re: [MLL] GNS in jukebox What I've been listening to: *David Garza - very T.Rex sometimes & other times, just lovely folk *Jude - boy with a guitar & a beautiful voice *The King - Irish Elvis Impersonator that does covers of AC/DC & Lynard Skynard (I'm not making this up) *The Moffatts - silly, teenage pop music made by 15-year old triplets & their 16-year old brother. Hanson with more talent. *Guns n Roses - Just got back from L.A. which always equals GNR to me. Kudos to Jack's Sugar Shack for their GNR pinball game. *Sparklehorse - Each song is it's own little painting. Beautiful. Um....that's it for now. Has anyone heard the new Tom Waits? That's where I used to hang out back in '93 on weeknights listening to surf punk bands and dodging the spit clumps in the sawdust on the floor while waiting for Aimee Mann to show up at Largo for her twice weekly rehearsal/gigs. It's a fun place with lots of good tap beers and a constant stream of disaffected runaways and assorted Hollywood transients. >From: Cinnamon Girl >To: Some Jingle Jangle List >Subject: Re: [MLL] GNS in jukebox >Date: Tue, 20 Apr 1999 10:54:28 -0400 > >What I've been listening to: >*David Garza - very T.Rex sometimes & other times, just lovely folk >*Jude - boy with a guitar & a beautiful voice >*The King - Irish Elvis Impersonator that does covers of AC/DC & Lynard >Skynard (I'm not making this up) >*The Moffatts - silly, teenage pop music made by 15-year old triplets & their >16-year old brother.
