What have I missed? this is amazing, I am going to definitely be there... Does anyone know if this will be an all-ages show? OK, I know probably it won't. That's kind of an issue since my friends don't have fake IDs at their disposal. But we'll see. I'll work something out. In any case I'll be there, so... cool... - -Laura ------------------------------ Date: Tue, 13 Apr 1999 17:48:57 -0400 (EDT) From: rachel kramer bussel Subject: [MLL] Lilith Fair live CDS Unfortunately, Mary Lou isn't on these, but you might want to check em out anyways...they're being released soon, I think in May...and to maybe bring some MLL content, Mary Lou has covered the Shawn Colvin song "New Thing Now"... rachel Lilith Fair Vol.2: 1. Speeding Motorcycle He'd Be a Diamond That Kind of Girl Lights are Changing I Figured You Out Sunspot Stopwatch Western Union Desperate His Lamest Flame She Had You Down Along the Lea Hey, Antoinette! Hard Road (Lucinda Williams) Not Half Right (Heatmiser) There Stands the Glass - I've heard her do this before and I got a new appreciation for the song. THe sound was just so wonderful and I was standing near the stage and she just sounded perfect and clear and great...she also played some song that went "Hey Man..." or something, I don't know what that one was. And hi to Melanie who I also met there...lotsa folks from this list were there I guess (hi Heather!)...the crowd was really into her, one guy kept calling out all this stuff to her and people were making lots of requests. :) Rachel ------------------------------ Date: Tue, 13 Apr 1999 15:30:23 PDT From: "Ata Rivers" Subject: Re: [MLL] Lilith Fair live CDS Awesome job of curating by Ash. I have some reservations about some of the track selections but we have to remember that the choices are based on performance values as well as repertoire. I can't wait to get my copy. A final bit of non-Mary Lou content: I attended the Cranberries inaugural gig to support their new record last night (12th April). The gig took place in London at Sheperd's Bush Empire (19 quid for standing room - - cor blimey!) Anyway, Delores is sporting a flouncy straight blonde layer cut and she is in fine voice. On both new and old songs, the band is true to the sound that has made them wealthy. The set list was about 1/3 new and 2/3 old songs. Of course, that may change as the tour progresses and depending on the response they receive in America. Totally unrelated and gratuitous comment to devotees of daytime television in Britian: Johnny Vaughn is a twat! >From: rachel kramer bussel >To: Some Jingle Jangle List >Subject: [MLL] Lilith Fair live CDS >Date: Tue, 13 Apr 1999 17:48:57 -0400 (EDT) > >Unfortunately, Mary Lou isn't on these, but you might want to check em out >anyways...they're being released soon, I think in May...and to maybe bring >some MLL content, Mary Lou has covered the Shawn Colvin song "New Thing >Now"... rachel > >Lilith Fair Vol.2: > > 1. The Knitting Factory is a brilliant venue. The sound is consistently superior, even in the downstairs Tap Bar for the free shows every night. I encourage you all to attend Kristin Hersh's upcoming show. I know I will be there if I'm lucky enough to be in New York. >From: rachel kramer bussel >To: Some Jingle Jangle List >Subject: [MLL] Saturday's show >Date: Tue, 13 Apr 1999 17:54:55 -0400 (EDT) > >I didn't really get to post too much about the show, but I had a great >time...If I recall correctly, these are some of the songs Mary Lou played >(NOT in order, though she did open with Barstool Blues): > >Barstool Blues (Neil Young) >Book >On The Avenue >Vincent Black Lightning 1952 >Cinderella Backstreet - am I imagining she played this? >Speeding Motorcycle >He'd Be a Diamond >That Kind of Girl >Lights are Changing >I Figured You Out >Sunspot Stopwatch >Western Union Desperate >His Lamest Flame >She Had You >Down Along the Lea >Hey, Antoinette! >Hard Road (Lucinda Williams) >Not Half Right (Heatmiser) >There Stands the Glass - I've heard her do this before and I got a new >appreciation for the song. > >THe sound was just so wonderful and I was standing near the stage and she >just sounded perfect and clear and great...she also played some song that >went "Hey Man..." or something, I don't know what that one was. > >And hi to Melanie who I also met there...lotsa folks from this list were >there I guess (hi Heather!)...the crowd was really into her, one guy kept >calling out all this stuff to her and people were making lots of >requests. > >:) > >Rachel > > ______________________________________________________ Get Your Private, Free Email at http://www.hotmail.com ------------------------------ Date: Wed, 14 Apr 1999 01:42:12 -0400 (EDT) From: rachel kramer bussel Subject: [MLL] KCMU >From owner-jinglejangle Thu Apr 1 21:29:50 1999 From: "Kyla Lackie" To: jinglejangle@smoe.org Subject: Mary Lou on KCMU Date: Thu, 01 Apr 1999 18:29:13 PST Mary Lou was on KCMU this morning- quite a delight! She played I figured you out and His ND world and talked about Annabelle and Elliott and Lilith. She mentioned that the Raging Teens might be coming to Seattle sometime soon and that she's been listening to a lot of rockabilly lately. Just thought I'd share. ------------------------------ End of jinglejangle-digest V2 #49 *********************************
