How was it? If someone already posted about it, sorry, I'm very behind... That Permafrost song is indeed about Mary Lou and she said once that she knows those guys...some of them used to be in a band called Miles Dethmuffen and they're from Boston too. The Permafrost CD is out on Emperor Norton if anyone's interested - I had found it in a used bin and was intrigued by the Mary Lou song... These are the dates on the Sony site - I'm gonna write to get the up-to-date info today... 04/01/99 Seattle WA Breakroom 04/02/99 Portland OR Lewis and Clark College 04/04/99 Vancouver Starfish 04/05/99 Bellingham WA Viking Hall 04/09/99 Albany NY Eight Step Coffee House 04/10/99 New York NY Knitting Factory 04/17/99 Cambridge MA Middle East Upstairs And David had posted posted there might be more dates, I'm sure we'll hear about em when they're finalized... Oh, I found a South By Southwest compilation CD with "I'm Talking to You" on it, and also finally got the Respond compilation which has lots of great musicians, and the booklet has a photo of Mary Lou when she was pregnant wearing this cute outfit. And in other somewhat-related news, I saw Elliott Smith twice last week, once at the 9:30 Club in DC which I wasn't too impressed with, and then Friday at Irving Plaza in NY which featured really amazing sound and great songs and was just an amazing show... :) Rachel ------------------------------ Date: Mon, 29 Mar 1999 10:47:18 -0500 From: ouellette@gemgrp.zko.dec.com (Roland G. It doesn't much matter for me since I'm in New YOrk, but those of you from out of town planning to attend should probably call the club sometime this week for further information. Hope to see you there. cheers >From: rachel kramer bussel >To: Some Jingle Jangle List >Subject: [MLL] Permafrost/tour >Date: Mon, 29 Mar 1999 10:06:34 -0500 (EST) > >Sorry I never posted more info on Friday's VCU show - I have barely had >time to check email, and I didn't end up going to that show. I know in Bellingham a local guy by the name of Chris Riffle is opening. I've heard he's "brilliant!" Here's some other info- Mary Lou Lord, Chris Riffle Monday, April 5th VU Main Lounge, WWU $7, all ages doors at 7pm I wish she was playing an all ages show in Seattle! There's no way I can make it to the Bellingham show. Even a little show at the Velvet Elvis would be good.
