I didn't write down the setlist but I think I recall her playing (not in this order): I'm Talking To You She Had You That Kind of Girl I Figured You Out Western Union Desperate Hard Road (Lucinda WIlliams) He'd Be a Diamond His Lamest Flame She looked really good (and quite big). Also, Kevin's (Mary Lou's boyfriend) band The Raging Teens *might* be playing Saturday night at Rodeo Bar in New York City...they are this really fun, cool rockabilly band. I don't know for sure but I'll post when I get the scoop either way. Also, the Raging Teens just finished recording a CD that Kevin said will be on sale mid-December (I think that's what he said). And I guess the baby's gonna be a girl cause Mary Lou said "she" a couple times. :) Rachel ------------------------------ Date: Sun, 11 Oct 1998 13:18:52 -0400 (EDT) From: Rachel Kramer Bussel Subject: [MLL] NY Times blurb Thanks to my grandparents for letting me know about this writeup - they sent me an email saying "hope you had fun at the Mary Lou Lord concert. It was written up in the Times so we knew where you'd be on Saturday." Actually, Mary Lou was supposed to headline the show but she ended up being 2nd and playing a short set, but that was OK cause Alejandro really was amazing. :) Rachel It's from Friday's NY Times, and they use a photo of her from the February Westbeth show that ran last time, and they recommended the show: Three songwriters share this triple bill and cover a lot of emotional terrain. Mary Lou Lord, who alternates her own song with gems by Nick Saloman of the Bevis Frond and others, is winsome and lovelorn; Alejandro Escovedo delves into loss and stoic despair, and Peter Case can be a wise guy or a precise observer of the down-and-out. ------------------------------ Date: Sun, 11 Oct 1998 17:49:32 EDT From: Edina33@aol.com Subject: [MLL] Elliott smith in philly and mll in ny hey everyone, Just wondering if anyone was at any of these concerts( elliott smith at the Trocadero and Mary Lou in NY) I'm SOOO mad because I was supposed to go see elliott smith and my uncle that was taking me just didn't show up...no reason, no phone call just no show...nice huh? anyway, if anyone was there let me know what i missed!~Britta ------------------------------ End of jinglejangle-digest V1 #204 **********************************
