So keep your eyes open for other shows or busking or whatever. After Seattle I think Mary Lou is heading back to Boston and doesn't plan to tour for a while, but may do some local shows; she wasn't too specific when I spoke with her. And I believe that's supposed to be "Bumbershoot." :) Rachel DATE CITY VENUE NOTES 08/30/98 Portland OR La Luna 09/05/98 Portland OR Pacific University 09/07/98 Seattle WA Bumbleshoot Opening for Beth Orton ------------------------------ Date: Mon, 31 Aug 1998 00:55:08 From: Darren Subject: [MLL] MLL live in Portland Just wanted to pass along a hello from Mary Lou. I spoke briefly with her after her show in this weird little room here in town. She's doing great, sounding wonderful, and is more "laid back" then ever! The show tonight was almost all requests. Which of course meant 1952 Vincent... Book (dedicated to Everett)... On The Avenue... I Figured You Out... Sunspot Stopwatch... I'm Talking To You... His ND World... and the rarely played Two Boats... among the usual GNS tracks. (I'm sure I'm forgetting one or two. A couple I didn't recogize.) She says she's having trouble getting back into the swing of things after being on Lilith. She was only doing 5 songs on Lilith, and now she has to keep going after 5 songs! She did address the ET article. She pointed out the innaccuracies that she never lived in Portland, and she never kicked Pete Krebbs off a busking spot. They were in fact, sharing the spot and he got tired and stepped down, and she stepped up. She knows all about the guy, and while she says it still hurt, she understood about the guy and takes that into consideration. (She said this all on stage without mentioning the guys name) For those interested, Kevin's Raging Teens album should be done in November or so. Anyway, a wonderful show. She's playing near here again next Saturday, then Bumbershoot on Monday (with busking on Fri. and Sun. she even invited us to bring our guitars along!) I realize this is just a short quickie tour, but it's the kind I really like. Informal, allows her personality to shine, and shows off her strengths. Peace, Darren ------------------------------ End of jinglejangle-digest V1 #179 **********************************
