Unfortunately, it doesn't really have any information you haven't already heard a dozen times before. It was written for rookies. However, any completists out there may want to check it out. It would probably make it a lot easier than 50 people just sending all the emails to the list. It would also make it a lot easier for whoever is compiling the tape so he/she can contact everyone. Let me know if you would actually use this page if I put the effort into making it. I'd also create a sign-up sheet for people who want a copy of it when it's complete, and they can be notified as soon as it's ready, plus costs etc. Let me know what you think. Might make things a lot easier if we actually want this to work.<< This sounds good to me. I'm sorry I haven't been posting but my Dad passed away and we've been very preoccupied over here. Um, I've been reading a post by Sean about the tribute tape where he wants "producer" credit. That makes no sense to me - dubbing the tape onto CDR and packaging it and so forth are credit-worthy jobs, but NOT a "producer" credit. If I'm involved, I'll be the "compiler" or "editor" but I wouldn't take producer credit, and I don't think anyone should. It smacks too much of the SATURDAY MORNING-type compilations. Just my opinion. Also, this talk of money scares me. If money is involved, it should be donations from the artists to help defray mastering costs, and I can tell you right now most people can't afford to do that. Distribution should be of the tape-tree type (unless donated by another member); any other way means greenbacks will exchange hands to BUY the recordings. Down that road, trouble awaits. Really, I can't stress SIMPLICITY enough. Sure, get a list going, but mainly, just do the songs (Sony walkmans are fine, BTW) and send them to me. I'll edit them together, make a master, and send that to Sean if he wants to take it to the next level. I don't know how much he wants to get into the "packaging", but mastering CDRs shouldn't be too costly (I'd be glad to do that, too), and hopefully tape trees could sprout from those shiny gold discs. These are my thoughts. If everyone wants to go a different direction, I certainly won't throw a fit. Until otherwise noted, I'll be glad to accept tapes and begin constructing the master (E-mail me for address)... or if someone else takes over, I'll just ship them to that person. Heck, there could even be competing tapes if there's enough interest. This should be fun! ------------------------------ End of jinglejangle-digest V1 #130 **********************************
