I'm curious - do lots of people on here play guitar? >I know some of you do know how to play Mary Lou songs, and that's really >wonderful - maybe we can get a cover tape going sometime...? > I find Mary Lou songs really fun and easy to play. I think almost all th songs she plays are straight chords, I'm just too lazy to figure them all out. I have transcriptions for a bunch of songs if anyone wants them. I think a cover tape is a really cool idea. I'm all for it. I tried to get one going in the aol folder over two years ago. Obviously there were less songs to cover then, but even so I had lots of interest and even received a completed song (and I had one of my own ready to go, too). I left the concept very open; i.e., you could even sing a song in the bathtub if you wanted, and other songs made famous by Mary Lou were also acceptable. I was also going to stick in a few moments of live MLL chatter between the songs. My plan was to master the tape digitally, make two gold CDs, then give one to Mary Lou and use the other to dub cassettes. Somebody else was going to do the cover graphics. The idea was that it would be a real "hometape" kinda thang, a movement I was heavily involved in for years. There are lots of zines that would review and publicise such a tape, if that were desireable (and why not, since it would help spread the word of the Lord ((sorry!))). Mary Lou was aware of our efforts back then and was very, very flattered, even though it never came off. ------------------------------ Date: Sun, 21 Jun 1998 14:10:56 EDT From: Recordings@aol.com Subject: [MLL] Re: cover tape NOTE Oh, let me just add that a MLL Tribute Tape would HAVE to be a very home-grown effort since we're talking about copyrighted songs. No money could ever change hands. ------------------------------ End of jinglejangle-digest V1 #121 **********************************
