Also, i performed infront of an audience for the first time last night at a local coffee shop!! I opened with His Lamest Flame and closed with Subway people came up and I even had tapes of GNS to sell to spread the word on MLL. Just thought i'd share! ~britta ------------------------------ Date: Sat, 20 Jun 1998 08:48:07 From: Darren Subject: [MLL] Mountain Stage Radio Program? Does anyone here have a local radio station that airs Mountain Stage?? I really, really want a recording of this Sunday's show!!!! It's not Mary Lou, but if you can help me... please please do! darren@spiritone.com This is important to me, and I'll make it up to you somehow. Especially if you can record on DAT!!!! :) And now for some MLL content... I picked up the Starbucks Lilith cd. No photos or anything. Seven Sisters is the album version. It was a little hard to find, but if you're looking for a copy, let me know. We'll set something up. Maybe in trade for tomorrow's Mountain Stage radio show!!! :) Peace, Darren "If you can't be kind, at least have the decency to be vague." * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * http://www.spiritone.com/~darren/backpage.htm mailto:darren@spiritone.com * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * ------------------------------ Date: Sat, 20 Jun 1998 14:50:42 EDT From: ELGOODO1@aol.com Subject: [MLL] Re: Bottom Line Rachel wrote: >Meet on the Ledge (WHO wrote this song?) It's a Richard Thompson song...actually a Fairport Convention song. It's on their album What We Did On Our Holidays. The very wonderful Continental Drifters have also covered it. Doh! And I had to miss the second set.... I was surprised at the oddly small turnout... The GbV cover (Blimps Go 90) was a brilliant surprise. Has she ever done that before? Vinnie ------------------------------ Date: Sat, 20 Jun 1998 20:49:22 -0400 (EDT) From: Dragon Lady Subject: [MLL] Blimps Go 90 I know that Mary Lou toured with Guided by Voices (in 1995 was it??) and she I guess started playing that song around that time, and I've heard her play it a few times. She refers to that tour as "Guided by Budlight." It was really great to her her play some more obscure stuff, at least obscure to me. If I make it to Boston this weekend I'd love for her to play a Joni song, like "Real Good For Free". I'm listening to this folk singer Eliza Carthy - she's from England, and she's very good, I can't really describe her music at the moment, it's kindof like Joni Mitchell and Anne Briggs sortof...something sortof timeless about it to me, even though I saw her described as "new folk." Britta - great story! I'm curious - do lots of people on here play guitar? I know some of you do know how to play Mary Lou songs, and that's really wonderful - maybe we can get a cover tape going sometime...? :) Rachel "ok, I won't be your girl I guess I'll go and rule the whole world" -- Lois, "bonds in seconds" - --------------------------------------------------------------------------- my Mary Lou Lord page is at http://pages.nyu.edu/~rkb200/ To join the Mary Lou Lord mailing list, email Majordomo@smoe.org with ONLY "subscribe jinglejangle" OR "subscribe jinglejangle-digest" in the BODY.
