Like a bunch of y'all I listen to a lot of Ani DiFranco (I really think LPC is great but Out of Range is my personal fave), Sarah McLachlan (either Solace or Fumbling Towards Ecstasy; I really do not like Surfacing), Indigo Girls (1200 Curfews rocks!), Vonda Shepard (yeah, I'm an Ally McBeal fan so . . . It's Good Eve is a great album, I think a lot of Sarah fans would probably like it), Barenaked Ladies, Sinead O'Connor, Juliana Hatfield (Do Not Disturb makes up for Only Everything) . . . . Oh, and I know that this will not be a popular choice, but I really love the new Madonna CD. It is techno and it is super-produced but it is great album. . . . . Subject: [MLL] the pace of change yeah, I posted this about a week ago and I'm sure this is an inappropriate use of the list but no one responded so here it is again. I've had a problem recently w/ my mail going to the wrong house, and don't always know if it all gets to me. This has made me a bit paranoid after hearing of people receiving the "pace of change" CD around this time; to ease my anxiety I was wondering if anyone on this list would be willing to to trade/sell me a tape of it. I will send either $14 or 3 bootlegs (yr choice) for a tape of the cd & I would send $24 or 7 bootlegs if anyone was willing to part with the original. Please someone respond, this is really important to me. thanks -Matt Phelps- mylistholder@hotmail.com phelpsz3@email.msn.com ______________________________________________________ Get Your Private, Free Email at http://www.hotmail.com ------------------------------ Date: Tue, 31 Mar 1998 11:03:13 -0800 From: deanorez@juno.com Subject: [MLL] Now Playing... First off, I must agree with whoever said that we're making it not OK for anyone to criticize MLL. I mean, she's a big girl, she can take it. Whenever anyone makes a critical post I can immediately predict exactly who and how people will jump to her defense. >I mean, what's wrong with some polish. What's wrong with polish is that it takes away from the spontaneous intimacy and beauty of plain imperfect acoustic performance. Anyone can sound good backed up with a brilliant band and a good producer; it takes genius to sound good by yourself with an acoustic guitar. A few of my takes on "I'm Talking To You" lyrics: >Fixing that I know, I wake up in this jungle "Next thing that I know...." >Men try to fake me and others try to take it "... and I always try to take it...." A bit of what's in my CD/7" rotation at the moment: Elliot Smith; Ani DiFranco; Tori Amos; Belle and Sebastian; Blake Babies; Uncle Tupelo; Grey Eye Glances; Abra Moore; Ben Lee; Beatles; Bangles; Matthew Sweet; Lois; Helium; Retsin... and of course Mary Lou, especially the Safe and Sound comp. with "Polaroids" on it. love Cheryl "i'm in love with the world through the eyes of a girl" -elliot smith, "say yes" _____________________________________________________________________ You don't need to buy Internet access to use free Internet e-mail.
