[Kill Yr Idols ] [MLL] Hello [Darren ] ---------------------------------------------------------------------- Date: Fri, 27 Mar 1998 01:54:00 -0800 (PST) From: Kill Yr Idols Subject: [MLL] Sorry...I'll stop soon... but it is spring break and i've got time on my hands...maybe I am sounding like I am more indie than you or somthing but whatever...anyways <> First of all I love all three of those bands more than I love mary lou...and I don't think any of them sold-out (although if you are on the s-k list you'd be amazed at the number of people mad at them for switching to KRS (over chainsaw or even vvk) and playing shows that cost more then $5 and sometimes god forbid you have to buy tix in advance) anyways...Sonic Youth...perfect example Goo their first major label album...and it is my favortie or 2ed favorite album they have done...sugary sweet pop songs with just enough noise...BTS...again signed to a major got money and I think Perfect from now on was one of the best albums of the year...and Sleater-Kinney have managed to 'make it' on an indie...the same indie mll left...they don't work day jobs and are quite happy...anyways I think I am going to stop responding after this cause it is getting out of hand...but I don't think she sold out...but she has admitted to making some desisions and changes based on things other then what she thought was the best thing for the song...I also hate the production...dunno who is responsible...I don't care if it was MLL her self of thurston moore, Lou Barlow, or elliott smith it sounds so bland...I also have some reservations about the fact that she dosn't play guitar on even one song...and the fact that she is touring with a band but those are all very subjective so its not worth getting into at all...and alas I wont even get to see her when she comes through seattle cause I can't get a ride and she decided to skip Olympia again... - -Alex turneral@elwha.evergreen.edu http://192.211.16.13/individuals/turneral/home.htm ------------------------------ Date: Fri, 27 Mar 1998 13:09:02 EST From: LisaTski Subject: [MLL] Wow, this was in People I get People on line daily... usually just nonense, BUT this was of interest... I think you will agree! Lisa MINNIE IN DRIVER'S SEAT Minnie Driver, reportedly dumped by her "Good Will Hunting" co-star Matt Damon, is now involved with musician Elliot Smith, who sings "Miss Misery" on the film's soundtrack, reports New York's Daily News. They were seen holding hands last week at a Mary Lou Lord concert in Los Angeles. Driver's spokeswoman, Lisa Casteller, says her client and Smith "are just friends. I hold hands with Minnie and we're not dating." ------------------------------ Date: Fri, 27 Mar 1998 11:41:25 From: Darren Subject: [MLL] Hello I just subscribed, and wanted to say hello. I saw Mary Lou last night here in Portland. Had a chance to spend some time talking with her, and I thought the show was wonderful! I probably would follow the troupe up to the Vancouver/Seattle shows, but I'm going to see Michelle Malone tonight here in Portland. That, and I've got a job set up for tomorrow! Looking forward to this list, and just one quick question: how difficult is it to find the 2 promos from Sony/Work that are listed on the discography? I'd LOVE to get a hold of those! I haven't had much time to search the 'net for the KRS stuff yet. Yet! I don't know if this list is interested in personal information, so I won't offer any up!
