MLL, and her huge band, did "lights are changing".  MLL & the  keyboardist
seem to have the same hairstyle.  and towards the end they were all trying
very hard not to laugh.  Conan seemed pleased too, although when Elliott Smith
played Conan referred to it as "amazing" :)

i don't know about the same hairstyle thing; amy was doing her usual
pigtail thing while mll was wearing this bizarre shoulder-blade length
fall. she also was really made-up; it was kind of weird to me, but i've
only seen her once in a very intimate venue, so maybe these things aren't
so uncommon. personally i prefer a bit more natural look. she was also
dwarfed by conan, in spite of her 3" platforms; i know she's no giant, but
conan must be taller than he seems.

as for the music, the band sounded ok, but mll's voice seemed buried in the
mix. and of course she didn't get to say two words, and her patter is half
the fun of her live performances. she did look like she was having fun,
though. but overall i was a bit disappointed.

even so, does anyone really care what conan thought of her? sorry if this
seems a rather superficial review.

I liked the way MLL'shair looked...there were people who came all the way
from Salem to see the taping, friends of her band I think, and that was
cool. Blank stares on line (Mary Lou who? what?) but whatever, I'm sure
they'll hear of her soon enough, well now they know who she is, and this
woman sitting next to me had just bought her CD. I already got an email
from someone who saw her on Conan and now is gonna buy her stuff so it
does work, ya know. I thought they gave the vocals enough volume, at least
watching it last night I could hear Mary Lou's voice.

The Troubadour (LA) show on March 18th (yay!!) IS going to be webcast -
go to www.mllord.com and click on NEWS and then it gives you the link to
where it'll be webcast. I forgot what time they said. I feel like every
time I see her it's webcast.

And for those in the NYC area who like Elliott Smith, he's playing Tramps
April 22 for $8, all ages. Gotta go buy my ticket for that today!!

Yes, I feel the same way, who cares what Conan thought?  It should be
some good exposure for her and even though I didn't see it I'm glad she
understands that she has to make a striking visual statement for TV
appearances because most viewers are listening through two-inch speakers
if they are listening at all.

I saw the show on Teusday at Liberty Lunch.  There was harldy anyone 
there.  But it was a great show.  She said she would be playing in front 
of Kinkos in downtown Austin starting at 10PM on the Saturday of SXSW.  
She even said that Elliott Smith might stop by.  I hope that is true. I 
think i'm gonna go.  Will it be hard to park downtown on a SXSW night?  
I'm from San Antonio.  Should i take the bus once in Austin or get 
someone to drop me off?

The Sony party is private...so if  you want to go (Austin on the 20th)email me
by tuesday morning :)  I will try to get you on the list...she is on at 5:00
at maggie mae's...check the time..... She will be busking on sixth street both
Friday and saturday nights, possibly even thursday

she will also be playing urban outfitters again at 3pm on saturday.
