I'm here at work 8-5pm EST so normally I wouldn't be able to catch a TV show, but, of course, FoxNews broadcasts on the Internet, and I just happen to have a really fast connection at work so....... Was a good piece. Real "puff" thing, mainly asked her dumb or simple questions. Ran about 3 minutes for the interview. Mary Lou was in her somewhat ahem poodle-ish haircut, and simple jeans and shirt. Interviewer mentioned her review in Rolling Stone, which Mary Lou said she liked. Mary Lou confirmed she would be on this summer's Lillith Fair tour, so that's good, as some of our non-MLL friends will be able to see her there if not elsewhere. Interviewer asked her how Mary Lou compared to Alannis Morissette, per a previous segment, where they were discussing longevity of musicians in the spotlight, and the interviewer tossed her a softie, saying, "well Joni Mitchell is out there still singing songs" of course then linked it to her known fondness for Ms. Mitchell. They slid over to discussing Shawn Colvin, and Mary Lou tied it up nicely by saying Joni was Shawn's mentor, and Shawn hers. Everyone *sigh* ahhhhhh also few questions about how the big labels were courting her for years and she said she loved J (I missed it) and Jason of WORK were wonderful, and apparently they went down to a subway performance (which was REALLY COLD per Mary Lou) for 3 hours to hear her and wheedle her into signing with them. And the interview ended nicely with a congratulations and an encouragement for us, the audience, to go buy "Got No Work" which made Mary Lou laugh, and she said, "Ive got plenty of work!!" haha and the interviewer corrected herself and the world went back on spinning... Enjoy the Westbeth show you lucky dogs. ------------------------------ Date: Thu, 19 Feb 1998 11:18:37 -0500 (EST) From: Rachel Subject: MLL news There's an article on Mary Lou up at http://www.cyberus.ca/~aspect/ and she says that Got No Shadow will be out in Canada on March 1 and also on that date the video will be aired, I think that's what she said, or maybe just will be at MTV by then. Maybe I can ask her tonight, and my friend Brian who's also on this list is interviewing her today so maybe we'll get more of a scoop. :) Rachel - --------------------------------------------------------------------------- my Mary Lou Lord page is at http://pages.nyu.edu/~rkb200/ To join Some Jingle Jangle List, the Mary Lou Lord mailing list, email Majordomo@smoe.org with ONLY "subscribe jinglejangle" OR "subscribe jinglejangle-digest" in the BODY. There were only a dozen or so, but that was ok, cuz then she had more time to actually chat with those of us who were there, instead of being bombarded with a zillion questions. all in all, it was awesome. ummm, what should i do if my got no shadow cd has no thing to send away for to get the pace of change CD? i ordered the album from cd now, and i'm mad, grrrrr.... it didn't come with anything! will someone tape it for me? let me know maybe we can work out a trade... i also need the song "poloroids." i have some sorta rare stuff to offer in a trade, or i'll do a 2:1, anything... email me if you're interested. i'm waiting for the online concert to start but something's screwed up there or it's just my computer... it's telling me that "there's no document by that name at the requested location" geesh! is someone taping it? Brandon? i hope it's not another cancellation again! oh well. i woke up with these memories of you, ~MaRiA~ ------------------------------ End of jinglejangle-digest V1 #13 *********************************
