Today's Subjects: ----------------- [EDA] Jewel in Sydney (Aust) [barry ] ---------------------------------------------------------------------- Date: Sat, 11 Mar 2017 21:01:21 +1100 From: barry Subject: [EDA] Jewel in Sydney (Aust) Hi Angels, I saw Jewel in Sydney last night. She was brilliant and so beautiful, as she was when I first saw her almost 19 years ago to the day. As then, I went with my younger daughter Sarah. She di a 45 minute set, which was (and I might have got the order a bit wrong): Over the Rainbow Hands Standing Still My Fathers daughter Intuition Daydream Land Foolish Games You Were meant for Me Who Will Save Your Soul Chime bells She chatted with the audience after every few songs about her early life singing with parents and then with her Dad. Then about sounding like Kermit the Frog. But the highlight was when she sangs Daydream Land with Kase. She said it was his second time on stage. After a shaky start he did very well indeed. I was very impressed with him, especially how at the end he put down the microphone a walked off. Jewel called to him to give a bow and give her a hug, but he just kept walking. It was a great moment. As I said, she was brilliant and it was a great pleasure to see and hear her again. I wished it could have gone on for much longer. It will probably be my last Jewel concert: its been 13 years since she was here last, and Im not sure Ill be around in another 13 years. But I would not have missed it. She is as good now as ever she has been. Sigh. Unfortunately she was just fronting for Don Henly and all through her set there people coming into the theatre, drinking and talking, with no interest whatsoever in jewel or the people in the audience who wanted to enjoy her performance. They were so rude and disrespectful. Their behaviour was truly deplorable. After the interval three men came and sat in the vacant seats next to my daughter: they reeked of beer and were drunk. Once Henly started they kept making crude remarks about the female backup singers. And Henly was appallingly bad: I couldnt understand what he was singing and the music was just blaring noise. After a couple of songs he said he would go on for two hours, so we left. But Jewel was great and that was what mattered. Take care, Barry ------------------------------ End of jewel-digest V18 #88 ***************************
