EDAs numbered in the 180s, guests etc the remainder. I believe we had EDAs from 20-something states and of course Canada. No idea how many Provinces were accounted for. The relatively late scheduled "night two of Jewelstock" was open to the public for a $15 ticket price, 100% of which went to the Bearsville Theatre Restoration Fund. After lagging sales that show was also opened up to EDAs early in the week. I believe roughly 70 EDAs came to night two, but I could be way off on either side of that number. The place was not full, maybe 75 to 85%. I have details somewhere in my massive mailbox, but have yet to find. Late in the afternoon Lenedra even had several of us roaming the streets offering free tickets to people on the street to fill up the venue for night two. That certainly paints a very clear picture of the Jewelstock event. The only other thing I'm wondering about is how long it took to plan Jewelstock, and who coordinated the venue scheduling, campground, etc? Did the EDAs plan this on their own and Jewel showed up to play, or did Jewel's "people" make most of the arrangements? I really want this next, yet un-named event to be a great experience since we have so much time to do the planning. Has anyone else also realized that a May gathering would be in the same month as another important date? This could turn out to be a concert, EDA gathering, and a birthday celebration all at once! Did the EDAs plan this on their own and Jewel > showed up to play, or did Jewel's "people" make most of the arrangements? Head to http://www.quackquack.net/jewel/ and scroll down to JewelStock. It tells a decent story of it all and has a picture of the main people who put it all together and did various parts at the show itself. At first the EDAs were to do everything (we were not even called EDAs then, that happened AFTER the show), but in the end the J-team landed the venue (thank God!) and we did most of the rest, pretty much all of which was just organzing and informing the herd using this mailing list, many phone calls bewtween the main organizers and a closed password-protected website. If you have a few hours to kill over the long weekend, head to http://www.smoe.org/lists/jewel/archives/1996/ and scroll down to the third June 6th digest ( v01.n249 )and find the post I copied below and then read about a month's worth of digests. The post below was by a girl named Jane who worked for Jewel at the time and was the main contact we had between Jewel and us. Others there at times used the "Hiranya" account, but it ws usually Jane in 1996. She made that post below and things just rolled from there. The list wasn't the same for about the next 4 years. Provided we can get a date that works etc. It cannot be a weekend, has to be a late evening show after a day of recording. Plus all the coordinating should be done by the list (arrangement for a venue etc) and approved by Lenedra. What do you think?
